This is supposed to be a winter jacket with a fleece layered under - size 42 for my size 40 chest. I tried it on with just a t-shirt and the fit is not too bad - so potentially a spring and autumn jacket too!
As others have noted it seems a fine jacket but appears to be a bit on the large side when worn with just a t-shirt.
If the jacket has been sized to allow for layering a better idea of fit could be gained if it was possible to see a few photos of it being worn with a fleece or whatever else you intend to layer with.

I know that nagging doubt of sleeves feeling to be too short but actually fitting just perfectly.
Like you I realised that the fit and length I preferred on others was just below the wrist, and that is now what I aim for.

Glad to hear I'm not alone.
A weird side effect of wearing those heavy leather jackets is that it has legit helped me improve my posture. My FQHH jackets fit an feel great when I'm standing straight and "healthy" but look bad (especially in the sleeves) when I assume my usual office shrimp/rolled-in shoulders position.
Actually helped me to get rid of some lingering back pain caused by bad posture.

The maker also says that it will shrink slightly if I wash it—but idk if I will, or just dry clean instead when it needs it.
Glad to hear I'm not alone.

Take 2 - now with a thick fleece layered under. It feels snug and I think this is a good fit!

And… don’t mind the shorts! lol

Even layered over a thick fleece, that's much too spacious for me.

I see that @RDS has said completely the opposite - which only shows that nothing we say is important compared to how the jacket makes you feel.
I can assure it’s a real snug fit over that fleece - any tighter I’d struggle to breath :)

THIS is why I dream of a LW :) Gorgeous grain! Shame there's not more of it on this jacket. View attachment 704045

What you circled is basically what LW calls "draw" - hide coming from the horse's backbone.
Typically this is most visible on their heaviest/thickest leather.

End of the day, it's a luck of the draw kind of thing - it depends on how his machinist does the cutting. Of course you can ask to accommodate more of these panels, but as in life, no guarantees.

I would just keep wearing the jacket and keep bringing out the grain - you would be surprised how much more you will like it.

Here's some pics of my latest one which has some nice draw on it:

Is that a cafe racer model? Very nice kidney panel design.

Funny enough I’m not fussed about grain at all - I’m more excited about thickness and weight :).

Where does Stu get the hides from? Is there a specific tannery? The appearance is very different from CXL and almost comparable to Blattwerk (may not have spelled it right) sample I got from Simmons Bilt albeit way thicker and heavier.

Yes, it's a Buco Rider. He has a few cafe racer designs available.

He has his own tannery operation - he's quite involved with this part of the process.
It's meant to be vastly different from CXL. Purely chrome-tanned/no oils or wax stuffing.

Howdy y’all! I finally got my exchange done with Schott and received a jacket free of issues that I want to keep and wanted to get you fine folks opinions about the fit. It feels good to me. It’s a little tight but I can still move fine and get it zipped with my thickest sweater. Also after taking these photos I realize these jeans don’t fit me the best and would love some cheap recommendations around $50. I always have issues finding jeans that are just right. My legs are too muscular for slim fit which these are but straight fit tend to be too baggy. I’d ideally have them slim but not cling to me like these do and fit well in the seat. All that is to say I know the jeans don’t look the best.

The Jacket is a 44 which is my chest size and my typical suit size. Ill almost always be rocking this thing with a tank top as it hardly gets cold enough to layer here in Memphis.

P.s. I have some enamel pins I’d like to put on the jacket but can’t bring myself to poke a hole in this thing. So, I am trying to find a solution perhaps using neodymium magnets. If you have any thoughts or ideas about this please let me know! Thanks again for all the help you folks have provided thus far! Cheers!

P.p.s. Thanks for the merger benevolent mod! I didn’t think to check for an aggregate thread.

Looks like a trim but good fit :) may be a bit snug feeling before you break it in, but it will get better with time! :)

Thanks, it definitely is a bit snug but I was hesitant to go up a size due to the sleeves and back length going up too. This thing is beautiful though. I’m really impressed with this one. It is basically flawless. Haven’t spotted any stitching issues or loose threads. The leather is just lovely and already has some beautiful grain. Can’t wait to see how it develops over time. It took me three attempts to find one without issues but I think this is the one!

Nailed it. Once you move around in it it'll hang smoother and be more flexible.

I appreciate it. I’m very happy with it. Ill post some updates once I spend some time in it. I’m still on the fence about the plain nickel snaps though. They are growing on me but I still love the branded ones a tad bit more. I’m gonna give it some time and reevaluate it in a few months.

Yeah I think a size up would get a bit to big in the sleeves, shoulders and so on so I'd say you nailed the sizing :)

It's a gorgeous jacket(and a real classic model!) that will age amazing, please keep us updated how it ages mate!

Cheers
