Just saw that the Iron Heart x Simmons Bilt Horsehide Type III Jacket "The Extractor" - Natural is back in stock. Already have an eco-horse coming so I need to pass, but its been a grail jacket for a while. Hope some of you can grab one while they have it.

This jacket showed up today, overall excellent condition. Leather looks a bit heavy in pictures but is more of a lighter weight horsehide. Has a cool fit - very 40s with wide shoulders and wide arms. Wears almost similar to some of the short wool work jackets I’ve had.

What makes you say JL not Al’s?
The seller said it was made in SF. Also, it looks just like the m-500's here IMO.

I'd be just as happy to hear it was an Al's, though. Come to think of it, the cuffs are fur-lined. Im not sure if Johnson's does that on their version.

That is amazing!

The pattern reminds me of the Vanson raid, which probably ripped this off, LOL.

The classic Windward, redone by Eastman Leather and Vanson did one similar. Made by Roughwear Clothing. Came in brown too, some with gathered sides some with belted sides, light linings, quilted linings all from the 1940s.

I got this one last night. I've been looking for a Vintage Wool, this is the first of the season. It wasn't cheap. Dated April 1939. Excellent presentation by seller. Short wools are so hard to find, can't pass on one in this condition and size.

Some detective worked needed to read label

Looks like the snap high on the collar is the giveaway...good leather! Lescos are very often on the thinner side in my experience, not this one.
I'm not particularly experienced with a lot of different leathers, but the Brown Lesco I recently bought on Ebay feels quite heavy and substantial.
It does have a quilted lining which is probably responsible for some of the weight.

This Windward looks more like a ELMC that I owned instead of the original that I own. This leather looks lighter. Mine has the quilted lining and thicker leather, more robust. I'm thinking they used different weight leather to go with the different linings. I had an opportunity to buy this jacket, but funds were low. Very nice jacket!

I did watch some of your old videos on this Windward before buying the jacket. It’s interesting they made different weight leathers for the same model. I do like how easy wearing it is, but a heavy one is equally cool.

Here is a period picture with a fellow wearing the jacket - looks like the lighter weight option with the cinches

what a great pic, earliest edition with adjustable sides, lighter leather. I just realized I have two Roughwear jackets, same model one light lining other heavy. They have very different weight leather, like these examples. Makes sense.

Not new, but new to me. An Italian maker and the first shearling I'll have tried on in decades. Off the bay. Two hundred clams. 46US and 56EU. The translated label says (I think) "Shearling / Originally Spanish". I have no idea what that's supposed to mean. Am I botching that translation? Interesting to me that there aren't any other tags in the jacket that I can see. No idea how old it is but it does look like it could use a little conditioner and a backrub. Frontrub, too. I assume it's more fashion than function as it doesn't have knits in the sleeve cuffs and a warm jacket without cuffs isn't warm at all when the wind picks up in cold country.

1940s Levis Speedway Reversible. I'll post some better pics with my nice camera when I get around to it.
I actually saw this jacket when available. Didn’t recognize it as as Levi’s. Condition looked poor in photos but looks great now. Nice find
