Looks like a solid fit, maybe a bit snug but if you plan to shed another few pounds that should no longer be an issue either. More important than looks is how it feels though. If it is not comfortably, move it on or try a larger size. It does look right though, so if you can wear it comfortably, you can stop second-guessing the look and enjoy..

Thank you so much for replying. It is actually very comfortable in terms of being able to move around etc. I definitely don’t want it bigger. I think it could just be that it’s still quite stiff and boxy allied with I’m just not used to wearing it. As a garment I adore it (on the hanger at least) and I’ve wanted one since I was a kid.

Hello all, I'm back now with this RJ-2 and am unsure about the fit. Shoulders, sleeves, and chest feel great but the thick shearling is tight around the midsection. Wondering how it looks in your guy's opinion and if the shearling will compress enough to make it drape. Thanks!
It looks perfect

Thank you guys for your reply.
Seems reassuring the feedback on the Y2, looks like I got it right!
Regarding the Aero, it feels good on shoulders and arms, but at the waist it's actually "kind of strange", little flapping out in the front.
Could this effect be reduced as long as the leather breaks in more, or it will stay like this?
Try tightening the adjusting straps on the jacket.

My first real Schott Perfecto (618 model, size 42).

I was expecting to be worried about the length, or lack of it, but actually that’s okay.

I’ll preface all this by saying I’m currently losing weight, I’ve lost 30 lbs but it’s still a WIP. Through exercise and healthy diet I’m progressing, but the beer belly still needs some work (and my fat a**). I’m going easy on the carbs and not drinking alcohol. I am not yet at my target, but I don’t foresee my shoulders changing size much. Anyway, I digress…

I can do up the 618 but it’s snug, hopefully that’ll get better as I lose the timber.

However, I’m worried about the shoulders and chest, it all looks really full to me. Undone it seems like there’s a lot of bulk on the chest and under the arms. The sleeves seem rather wide and flappy, too, above the elbow. They may also be a bit long?

I don’t know if all of this is because leather is still stiff (the jacket isn’t broken in). I just can’t decide whether this is the right size for me, whether it will improve as it breaks in, or whether I should go a size smaller. I’m not riding a motorbike and doing the jacket up isn’t as important as undone. It just feels really voluminous, but it could just be that I’m not used to a stiff boxy jacket. Maybe I’ve just seen too many Ramones photos and skinny youths looking rock n roll in their perfectos.

I can’t decide if it looks ridiculous, or if I am just fussing. Do I need to just wear it more and soften it up?

I’m just wearing a t-shirt underneath in all of these. I’m 6’ tall.

Thank you for your opinions, help and advice.

The only thing I’d mention that I haven’t seen other people say is that this looks like you’re just wearing a t shirt under the jacket. I don’t know the weather where you’re at, but I typically wear my jackets with a long sleeve or sweatshirt underneath, and try to do fit checks wearing the thickest of those, since it really can affect how the jacket feels.

Personally, I would describe this as a fashion fit. It looks great zippered up and great unzipped, but imo it can feel a bit restrictive. This is how I used to size my jackets, but after losing weight too (glp1s for the win!), I’m realizing that I enjoy jackets that are about a size or two bigger than that. I think it looks 90% as good (I’m not really embracing Gen Z’s baggy fits) but I really enjoy the increased freedom of movement.

Try tightening the adjusting straps on the jacket.

Thank you for the suggestion.
It actually mitigates a bit the "flapping effect" on the Aero, but the price to pay is the "wrapping effect" on the sides o_O

Without strapping the cinches: IMG_20260125_152848514_HDR~2.jpg

With the cinches sttapped on:

Anyways, this jacket is stunning and it's definitely growing on me!
Ps. apologies for the sweatpants, it's sunday you know....:D

It looks great right now. I think it's worth wearing a jacket more often and then it will be even better.

Hi, first time posting here after many months and years of using this great forum to gain info. I finally settled on a Flathead Single riders jacket having owned some Lewis leathers jackets in the past and liked the cut of the FH HS001.

My stats are: 5’11, 13st 42 chest.

I tried on a 42 and found it too big on the shoulders (these jackets are renowned for wide shoulders) so went down to a 40 and I’m pretty pleased. Maybe a cm more in the arms if I’m being super picky. Let me know what you think.

Great to finally get a post on!

@Horlix649 I think it looks like a great fit, well done. The sleeves are slightly short but I have the same issue on a couple of pieces I own. In order to get the shoulders to fit correctly I have to size down, which means slightly shorter sleeves.

It's a terrific jacket that I think you should wear and enjoy.

Looks awesome. If you don’t feel restricted when zipped up then you’re set!
it's great with T which is how I will always wear it and it'll zip up no problem although it's snug but not tight and with it being horsehide and brand new it will give a fraction too. Appreciate the feedback. Thanks

Thanks Chris, It's been a journey finding the right jacket and as we all know the next "right" one is just around the corner. Really appreciate the feedback.

Recently bought an Aero Vincent jacket from a member here, and somehow it's simultaneously a bit too big and too small. Too big through the chest and the waist, and too small/snug at the hips. I'm starting to think that given my body shape, pre-made jackets won't fit me right, which is kinda blowing my mind right now, given I don't have such an issue with any other type of clothing.

It looks okay on the front. Yes, the shoulders are a bit too wide, but doesn't look like I've draped a garbage bag over my torso.

But the back, oh no. The bi-swing back that extends all the way down to my lower back is making it worse by a multiple.

There's a lot of slack through the chest and waist that's not really evident in the front pic, but I can feel the empty space inside. The reason I went a size bigger was to be able to wear it zipped without making it look like it was about to burst at the seams. Unzipped, it's decent in the back, but then I could have actually gone for a smaller jacket and gotten better fit through the upper torso.

What do other loungers think?

Visually, I don't think the chest and shoulders look too bad. Definitely not unwearable. It's very noticeable at the hips because the jacket seems a tad too long to me. This causes it to sit on the hips and push everything up. If it were 2 inches shorter, it would look completely different. The sleeves also seem a little long.

@AttemptingToStyleUp I agree with @MrProper, the length of the jacket is one of the culprits, and you're right, it visually seems like there's lots of room in the chest. Maybe that particular pattern from Aero isn't the one you need. I wonder if another manufacturer might have proportions that are a bit different.

Regardless, it's a beautiful jacket but it unfortunately does seem a bit too big.

Absolutely! This is by far the most beautiful jacket I've had/tried on. I'll see if shortening the length would make it look better at the back. The jacket does sit at the upper hip area but not quite convinced it's pushing the jacket upwards as @MrProper said. I have a Schott 533 in Small that's longer than this one, and its hem sits around my pelvic area when unzipped. I can't zip it up there because the jacket literally does not have enough circumference at the hem to wrap around my hips, so it needs to push up a couple inches to where my belt line is, and that in turn pushes up the chest area of the jacket above where my chest actually is, making it look puffed up. I don't see that with this one in the back, it's just too much of room in the upper torso that's showing through there, I think.
