Here my Deviant from Double Helix, do you think it looks big on me?
No, I don't think so. Perhaps a tad longer than it needs to be at the back, but overall it's fine to wear.

But if you think it's too big, then it's too big. If I'm convinced about a jacket, I would never ask for opinions. And if I'm not convinced, then other opinions won't help me either.
I always find that the difficult thing about these fit check questions.

I think it’s more about not knowing exactly how a specific piece is designed to fit. For instance, I almost always find the b3 fit, in almost every picture, too big on people, but invariably the consensus is that the fit is right. That’s the purpose of the ask, to find out from those who have more jacket experience whether a specific piece is fitting an individual as it’s designed to fit at that size.

I think its sometimes just wanting confirmation about what you feel.

It is a personal thing, I see a lot of jackets posted which look great on the wearer but I know wouldn't work for me. But then I've bought a sold a lot of jackets to find where I'm comfortable.

I figure some of the posters are just trying to save some time on that journey (Though I don't know if someone elses opinion will really help).

All comments are correct but sometimes I think someone who has the same jacket can share his opinion and struggles we may have had with a jacket and help someone in general. For me what is a bit strange with this jacket is that by only wearing a t shirt I think I am swimming inside bit when I wear it with a pullover than I feel good about it

In principle, I can understand your reasoning, but the example of the B3 shows that it probably doesn't help in many cases.
Let's say I buy a B3 and find it much too big and don't really like it. And now 100 people here on the forum tell me that the jacket isn't too big and is worn just like that, and that it's the best fit ever seen at TFL. Then the jacket will still seem too big to you and you won't wear it. So what's the point of asking?

But maybe I'm just atypical in that regard.

Hello everyone,
I'm Alessio from Italy and quite new to this forum, and more in general to the "high end" leather jacket world.
I recently suffered the massive and urgent need to upgrade my leather jacket collection, and I acquired rashly two of the most attractive (to my eyes) jackets that I've seen so far:
- Aero Leather 1930 Half Belt Deluxe (size 38)
- Y'2 Leather HR-55 (size 40)
I really love them, stunning aesthetics, quality way above expectations.
Unfortunately I couldn't try those on befor buying, so I jumped in the blue and made the purchases, and now that the "fever" has come down, I'm wondering if I made mistakes regarding sizes.

In particular:
- the Aero is good on shoulders and arms, but feels a little short (in the front end it "lifts" up, like a short blanket, if you know what I mean...). Should I have got a 40 instead?

- Y'2 seems good as well for shoulders and arms, but a little "boxy", and I've seen several reviews on Youtube where the size 40 is wore by guys much taller and heavier than me.... should I have got a 38 instead??

Attached there are some photos of both jackets, am I just worrying for nothing or do you actually see some wrong fitting here?
I'd much appreciate any considerations and suggestions about the fitting.
I'm 173 cm x 69 kg ( 5 ft 8 inch and 152 lb).

Please forgive me if I missed something or got something wrong in my first message, and let me know any consideration if you wish.
Thanks a lot!
Alessio

The Aero jacket looks too big in the waist area. It is well suited for those with a big belly. The Y2 jacket doesn't look bad. Perhaps it needs to be carried so that the jacket softens a little.

The Y2 jacket should not be taken a size smaller, it will be too small for you.

I agree and I’m much the same as you.

I would never ask for a ‘fit check’ because if I thought the sleeves on a jacket felt too short or that it was too large around the chest no matter how many others said it looked just fine it wouldn’t really change much, and whenever I wore the jacket I would still be having those nagging doubts about sleeve length or chest width.

I find the Y2 nice and the Aero boxy and balloony.

Thank you guys for your reply.
Seems reassuring the feedback on the Y2, looks like I got it right!
Regarding the Aero, it feels good on shoulders and arms, but at the waist it's actually "kind of strange", little flapping out in the front.
Could this effect be reduced as long as the leather breaks in more, or it will stay like this?

Hello all, I'm back now with this RJ-2 and am unsure about the fit. Shoulders, sleeves, and chest feel great but the thick shearling is tight around the midsection. Wondering how it looks in your guy's opinion and if the shearling will compress enough to make it drape. Thanks!

I think it's good.

My first real Schott Perfecto (618 model, size 42).

I was expecting to be worried about the length, or lack of it, but actually that’s okay.

I’ll preface all this by saying I’m currently losing weight, I’ve lost 30 lbs but it’s still a WIP. Through exercise and healthy diet I’m progressing, but the beer belly still needs some work (and my fat a**). I’m going easy on the carbs and not drinking alcohol. I am not yet at my target, but I don’t foresee my shoulders changing size much. Anyway, I digress…

I can do up the 618 but it’s snug, hopefully that’ll get better as I lose the timber.

However, I’m worried about the shoulders and chest, it all looks really full to me. Undone it seems like there’s a lot of bulk on the chest and under the arms. The sleeves seem rather wide and flappy, too, above the elbow. They may also be a bit long?

I don’t know if all of this is because leather is still stiff (the jacket isn’t broken in). I just can’t decide whether this is the right size for me, whether it will improve as it breaks in, or whether I should go a size smaller. I’m not riding a motorbike and doing the jacket up isn’t as important as undone. It just feels really voluminous, but it could just be that I’m not used to a stiff boxy jacket. Maybe I’ve just seen too many Ramones photos and skinny youths looking rock n roll in their perfectos.

I can’t decide if it looks ridiculous, or if I am just fussing. Do I need to just wear it more and soften it up?

I’m just wearing a t-shirt underneath in all of these. I’m 6’ tall.

Thank you for your opinions, help and advice.

I think it looks ok,not much to worry about there, you don't look like a sausage. What do you weigh?.I ask as im wearing an older 613 size 46 ,im 5-9 and 83kg ,it fits well.if you need to ask, you think there's an issue.

Looks like a solid fit, maybe a bit snug but if you plan to shed another few pounds that should no longer be an issue either. More important than looks is how it feels though. If it is not comfortably, move it on or try a larger size. It does look right though, so if you can wear it comfortably, you can stop second-guessing the look and enjoy..
