I believe that's a US Navy A-1 Extreme Cold Weather deck jacket. It was produced in the 1960's and had an impermeable heavy-duty sateen/nylon finish and an insulated interior lining.

Famous in the 1920s, which is when she died unfortunately. Bessie Coleman. No she wasn't affiliated with Hollywood or anything but I LOVE this woman!

Of course, that was a time, when Aviators were every bit as famous as any Hollywood star! Bessie, did look good, no two ways about it.

You make a good point here. Aviators were elevated to celebrity like status back in those times since flying was a revolutionary thing for anyone to do. I have always thought she wore the outfit well and had a nice shape.

Stearman, I assume by your avatar that you are into planes, I have always liked this photo of Bessie standing on her plane. If memory serves me correctly, I believe she received financing from the man who owned Beemans gum

Other than that, they look like typical aircrew. She might need something in a pocket or two. And I like how her sleeve pocket cover is torn off. Don't think I ever kept one on for more than a minute.

I believe these photos were taken on the set with the actors walking to their next setup or something, not actual shots from the film. In other words, they're on a "smoke break" and presumably the crew will get them sorted out before they get in front of the camera. That being said, Gollywood has a history of changing "regulations" however they like!

That's Lt Dick Winters, he was portrayed by Damian Lewis in the "Band of Brothers" series, he was in the 101 airborne division.

We have a winner! I don't know where I found this photo. Had to cross-check other pics to make sure it was the Dick Winters of Band of Brothers fame. Great shot of him and of an A-2. This is from his training days in Georgia before heading to the ETO. By all accounts, a great leader. He died in 2011.
