A charcoal hued 50's Stetson Whippet is my hat of choice this late evening for a dog excursion.

You are sporting some nice homburgs, Randall.

View attachment 219504 A Mallory Ten, early 50s?, that I’m proud to introduce as a trade deal made with @Frunobulax.
After a stretch to its original 1/4 size and unoriginal long oval.
I also steam shaped the crown and brim. It’ll be a very welcome addition to my small collection.
Thanks, Jim! It looks awesome! View attachment 219505 View attachment 219506

So I’ve got the kid home with me for a few weeks. Doing her schoolwork via email and FaceTime. Her school is in the middle of the quarantine zone or whatever the heck they’re calling it. Luckily her swim team practice facility is outside the zone, and I was able to get a good walk in today. Brought the black cherry VS with me. Excellent day for it. Cool enough to not get too sweaty. Warm enough to be comfortable. Hope everyone is staying safe in this Steven King novel we’re all of a sudden living in. View attachment 219569 View attachment 219570
Wow, this has to be the old black cherry. I only arrived on the scene to get the new one, which I love, but that old felt was something else. Nice hat dude.

Nice Whippet, Eric.
Makes me finally ask, who does all the shaping on your hats? If it’s you, or whoever, the hat blocking, dents and creases are always perfect, but Especially the brims. They’re always consistent with just the right amount of back curl and front flip. Not an easy thing with many hats.

Thanks for the question Randall. My hats have many imperfections, but I do enjoy wearing them.

I use my Jiffy Steamer most weeks to touch up hats. I do have a couple wooden blocks to work the crowns. I only have one flange and so I am creative with working the brims. As to creases, after posting many times in the crease thread, which has disappeared off the front page of the hat forum long ago, I watched and learned a bunch of very subtle creases. The thread had some regular posters who showcased some terrific efforts in creases. I liked that it expanded my repertoire. Early on I worked hats to have the same crease. The last years I go with what the hat asks for. The brands of hats, models and felts each have characteristics that demand a type of crease. Additionally when I look at the magazine advertisements of the hats I start by mimicking the crease. An excellent starting point.

But truth in posting, I have also been much more lax in the detail of creasing. I am accepting of an off center crease or a bit of brim tip. I like the hats I wear and like the way I appear in hats. Comfort with wearing hats makes it easier.
