I wore my Rand's 8X western hat out for my morning walk. It is definitely a head-turner.

The exaggerated high sides with which it came were a little too much for me. Makes sense for stage use, as it was made for "Stage Western Dunkin." I feel more comfortable wearing a more gentle curve with only a slight forward roll, even though that makes it appear even wider. Seems a little more along the lines of a "Jim Bridger" type. I don't know who that is, but I'm getting the nomenclature from styles on the Knudsen Hats website.

Only a few weeks left of "Western hat season," unless I can pull them off with work clothes, so I'm trying to enjoy them.

If the leather is in good condition this won’t happen, but sometimes you don’t know that the sweatband has rotted until something like this has happened. Bummer.

It was interesting to actually see it happen though. This one Was a tad small anyway and the felt isn’t the best shape so it makes a great work hat to plop on top of my head to keep the sun away and now worry about damaging it. In the end when I replace the sweat I’ll prob stretch it a tiny bit to fit better.

I took off an evening earlier this week and enjoyed the late summer weather here in Minnesota. I was sport'n a Royal De Luxe Viscount in a luscious caramel hued felt thru the cooler evening. My first evening off in months was glorious!

I got home this late afternoon and headed out for an essential trip to the butcher store in a Tropicool Straw hat.

Light and airy it was the perfect pairing for picking up a roast, chops and some sausage.

Home and enjoying some dock and yard time in a vintage Champ thin ribbon straw.

Sometimes you feel like a thin ribbon and sometimes you don't.

Breakfast/lunch/dinner of tuna tomato pasta carbonara with a side of summer pickled cucumber and onion. At this rate this will be a memorable summer evening.

Hard to be at rest this evening. I am working on building a "log cabin" fire in the fire pit. It is a criss cross fire that burns down quickly in order to cook on. I have ready a "dutch oven" with cornmeal and green chilies that my wife and I will add a sweet corn relish on when finished. No sugar added, rather freshly gathered honey(from my neighbors hives) is my choice this evening. Newly brewed cold press coffee completes out evening treat.

While working the special treat I am wearing a vintage Borsalino Alessandria.

Very nice. Dutch oven cooking... yet one more thing I've always wanted to try but have never done it. I helped a guy make a Dutch oven pizza and a blackberry/marionberry cobbler at a Boy Scout campout once, but that's it.
