A beautiful color. Lift those sides and you could have a western hat to die for!
Echet Mayser "Superbe" possibly early to mid 1950s. The felt is is very soft and the brim is less stiff so not like a typical Mayser Homburg. Interesting color and great Brim Curl. I found this Soft Felt back in 2019.

Mayser Ashtray with drawings by Marga Trautloft - Mayser. I found this item back in 2010.

Gst well soon, Steve.
A new bout of Covid has kept me housebound since Friday evening, so I haven't been able to join in the Stingymas festivities as much as I would have liked.

This evening, I thought I'd just go for it inside.

At 4cm (1.6 inches) this modern Borsalino is the stingiest brim I own.

Hopefully, I'll be out and about by Thursday. Happy Stingymas folks!
A very interesting hat, Randall, and a great conversation starter.

Looks like good weather out your way.

My favorite fedora always lifts my spirit.
Gotta go uptown and buy some denatured alcohol for shellac mixture.
Also get my 90 year old precious Dad a Christmas/Birthday card. View attachment 571966 View attachment 571967 View attachment 571968

I think you are working on the world supply of Sovereign Twenties. You need to leave a few for the rest of us!

Stingymas day 7:
I chose my other stingy JBS 20 for this wonderfully cold day in Alabama (it’s supposed to get down in the twenties again tonight - fantastic!)

I don’t like this one as much as the one I showed a few days back. This fellow is a size too small for me but beyond that the felt is somehow not as inspiring.

Still fun enough for Stingymas, though.

A funeral for a friend today and God provided a beautiful sunrise. I wore a special Knox homburg for the occassion. This one is special because it has a thin, felt brim binding rather than the typical grosgrain. I wish I could get a better picture but the felt-on-felt makes it hard to capture accurately. I also love this hat because it is so lusciously soft and light.

Have a great week, my friends.

Sorry to hear you lost a friend. That sucks. Fair winds and following seas to them - you chose a fine hat to see them off in.

Thanks all. He was one of those people that, no matter how bad his day might be, he greeted me with open arms and was always glad to see me and to know how my life was going. He will be missed.

Randy, Thank you! Sorry about your friend's passing. Great looking Knox Homburg.

Very cool details on that one!
Agnoulita calls this color pewter. He sources his felt from Tonak and the Ukraine, and maybe others, but he doesn’t use Winchester as far as I’m aware.
gotcha thanks
