Barbisio straw

wow, after close inspection of the panama i bought recently,(at far greater cost) this one looks like a lovely very fine weave in comparison, although the size would never work for myself...lovely hat!

Thanks. This one is NOT a Montecristi. Not sure what straw it is, but Barbisio's are generally very nice, and the price was right.

That label was used on USA made Barbisios and agreeing with Vic on the straw.

Stetson Andover

Here's my newest straw. It took a lonf time for me to get it right because it just didn't want to snap down in front but after working on it for a couple months off and on I've got it to hold it the way I like it. I really like the two-tone as well. I've got some "nicer" straws but I really like this one. The band is one of my favorites too.

At any rate, I paid $204 US for the hat in May, 2008, blocked by Gus Miller and delivered. I haven't bought an Akubra for quite a while, so I don't know how that stacks up in Australian dollars these days. And, of course, you'll probably need to adjust for higher prices today.

In addition to Gus Miller and Art Fawcett, Tom Gomez is blocking panamas these days. May I suggest that you should consider him as well. He's a top notch guy and will do a very fine job of blocking your hat when you get it. Robert can put you in touch with him, or he is Tom-n-Perris here on the lounge.

It isn´t straw

This is a Mexican Hat, I AM SORRY, IT IS NOT A PANAMA STRAW, but is a beautiful hat made in thread cotton, from Zumpango, Edo. Mex. México, light and fresh, I use it in indoor pools, in summer time.

Hi, Brothers¡¡¡¡¡ I believe what the " Reading Label" doesn´t have importance.
The best is the quality of each clothes, here, the quality´s hat. The same hat, could be sold in two different lands, in different prices, and the quality keep on same, in some importations, some traders change the labels. Hunting the quality, not buying labels

Thats for you to decide I suppose. Since the straw body was made in the Far East not Italy or USA its the quality of blocking, sweatband and sewing that show. The USA made felts were of lesser quality in both body and construction but decent quality.

Okay, thanks. I don't have it in hand and don't know anything about Barbisio hats other than what I've read posted by you and a few others. In any case, it was not much of an investment and I think it will look good on my gf's head this Summer....if she were wearing it today it would already be halfway across Puget Sound (flying through the air).
