I am glad to post I now have 2 Knox "Twentys"
1 Medium Gray with Black Band and 2 1/2" Brim
1 Taupe with matching band 2 7/8" Brim
I believe the Taupe one was made in 1946 and the gray 1949 from what the sellers told me.
They are in great shape and the quality is superb. Looking forward to...
Unfortunately I must agree with most of the comments here. At least here in central Texas due to the casual culture vintage clothes (more formal) do make a person add years in thier estimation.
Example - My 18 yr. old step daughter says I look like an "Old Mad Scientist" due to my short back...
I will have to take some pics but I found a Great Knox "Twenty" at a Vintage shop in Austin this week!
I am really happy with it as the quality of the felt looks excellent. It is Medium Grey with a 2 3/4" Ribbon, a 2 1/2" Brim, and as I bashed it 4 1/2" front tapering to 4" crown.
Best News...
I use the very hard to find brown clubman wax......(but seemingly not well respected by my fellow loungers).
Hmmm lasts me all day on my stache and provides just enough coloring

Well as it's hotter than hell I post 2 of my favorites Palm Straws to deflect the UV.
First "My Austin" - Little dressy and different but still knows it's Texas roots - like Austin....
Second "My Gus" - Proud of this one as I re creased it myself..... from a traditional Ponderosa to my...
Hi Pablo
Well here is another Texan's opinion (although an Austinite)
When I think of a "Bash" I think of the Felt Fedora with a Teardrop shaped pinch on the front, and the crown top push in or "bashed" to your shape taste.
Now as my fellow Texan says on our Western styles Straw, Felt, or...
Hi Grey Ghost I had to chime in I just got back from a great cruise. Most folks were informal of course but I did wear my 1950's vintage Ivory Dinner Jacket. Wish I looked as good as Brad.....

I have so many great finds at thrift shops... Jos A. Banks, HSM suits that fit like a glove and cost $12!
Also just the other day I had a great hat find at a 2nd hand shop.... It is a mink colored 8x Beaver Brand... 2 1/4" Fedora paid $43 sure it cost about $200 or more new in 2006 when...
Like DJH I am pretty new to the hat hobby, and my wife reacted much the same way. Actually she said they were weird, and old fashioned....
I am upto 4 hats now, and she slowly ever so slowly thinks they are more acceptable.... this maybe a journey rather than a destination... :)
Anyway as...
Thanks Lefty and WH
I will do some research on what hats were Danbury made but would like a Mallory.
Unfortunately in Austin the vintage shops are so busy they won't call you I've tried that approach :(

I think this is good advice... as an example I may have hurt my own recent bidding and lost a hat by talking about an active action .... newbie school of hard knocks...

Well was looking forward to buying a vintage Lock and co... but bidding just got too rich for my blood.
What I am still really wanting is a 7 3/8th ~2.5" brim Mallory made in Danbury, Ct. as my wife is from there... someday i'll find it!

Well here in Austin many styles are accepted.. but when I wear a Fedora I usually get oh a Sinatra fan huh or are you a Mafioso?
I do see signs classic hats like Fedoras are getting more common.... Western Hat styles of course are still king here in central Texas :)

Thanks rlk I have heard the opposite so I am hoping you are right!
I wear a 7 3/8 US this is listed as a 7 3/8 UK so 7 1/2US would work with abit of foam no prob.
