I would make a conclusion that it is an ELC Rough Wear.......but a 1401-P rather than a 27752. I own a couple of ELC RW 1401-P's and a couple 27752's.
Some of the ELC 1401-P's are more of a reddish color than the one Mr. Hanna is wearing.....but some aren't. One of mine is a shade of russet...
I second this question......any firm evidence of A-2 production or, since you mentioned Hellcat pilots, is their any evidence of them producing M-422A's??

I own several high end A-2's......none of them are G&B's, though. I have A-2's both with and without collar stands. I can state that in my experience, simple attachment collars are more comfortable from the git-go, and the difference is quite noticeable.
Collar stands often have to be given a...
"I DO OWN OVER 800 HORSEHIDE JACKETS"------My comment.......WOW!
"I HAVE HANDLED OVER 20,000 JACKETS"--------My comment........Double WOW!!
To borrow a phrase from The Lone Ranger TV show......"WHO IS THAT MASKED MAN"!

In regards to the ELC Luftwaffe jacket, I will give you an observation that I made about it.
Last September, I was at the Gathering of Mustangs And Legends in Columbus, Ohio. History Preservation Associates (Eastman's representative in the U.S.) had a booth there, and I was able to try on...
What..........is your wife Reichsmarshall Commandant of all male fashion.
Sorry, but I think you should get a bit of control over the selection of your own, personal clothing. But that is just my opinion.:)

John,
Yes, the gun in the first photo is a Barrett 82A1/107 semi-auto rifle that fires the .50 cal. BMG cartridge.
The weapon mounted to the motorcyle sidecar is one of the most feared firearms of WWII by Allied troops.......that being the German MG42 medium weight machinegun. It has an...
Colin,
I have a very simple and perfect solution for you. Contact Gibson & Barnes (aka Flight Suits) in San Diego and purchase one of their YKK nickeled zippers that they put on their A-2 jackets. They are very similar in appearance to the #5 Talon which came on many original A-2's and I have...
I own several ELC Rough Wear 1401-P and 27752 contract jackets. I don't have really any problem with the collars except on one jacket and I fixed it in short order.
All you have to do is take the jacket and carefully wet both sides of the collar under the kitchen sink faucet. I use...
Great question Mike. I know that there was swapping that took place concerning jackets......whether for size reasons or appearance reasons. Maybe someone has specifics in regards to this situation.

If you are considering a military A-2 type leather jacket, I would definitely include Good Wear Leather Coat Co. in your list of manufacturers. Good Wear manufactures an excellent product!

Hey ChuckO, I like them too.......A LOT!!
The Dubow 27798 contract (as reproduced by Good Wear, Real McCoys, and Lost Worlds), was one of the larger A-2 contracts manufactured during WWII. The 27798 Dubow is a solid favorite of many flight jacket enthusiasts.......I am definitely one of...
