Maybe I should have said I appreciate it more. But I still think when you have hand stitched something or held different qualities of something in your hand, or cut a brim and messed it up that you can appreciate it more. It's just an opinion. I have learned almost as much from reading. But i...
I just don't think I have seen a pork pie with the front down and the back up. But like I say... It's your hat, if you want it that way go for it.
I am new to the nuances of the different bashes and felts and it all makes sense now that I think about it. But until you really look or try to...
Hi Natasha. It was a ton of fun in Lee's class. Nice to see your finished work up here in the Fedora Lounge. You looked good in all the hats I saw you try on.

I am pretty sure you just flip the hat band down. If it is old,it could be an issue. But if its that old replacing it is probably best. If the hat is bad enough the best way is to remove the band. I have use PVA to stiffen straw especially paper straw. I have been told a fabric stiffener called...
Making your own is a roller coaster ride. About every 5 seconds your sure you destroyed it. I have taken hats apart and started all over again. But one thing is for sure. You really appreciate something much more when you try to make one. I want to lean some distressing techniques.

Panamas are awesome! That looks like some high end stuff there. I got this Ecuadorean hand woven panama hood and blocked and bashed it myself. I found another like it in a thrift store. I am hooked.

Some awesome new hats! I really want a cool vintage. It's hard to find my size and I never seem to have $ when I find one. I got my first fedora in Jr. High when I went to Sacramento with Youth in Government with the YMCA. Trench coat and all. I had some surgery in March if last year and started...
With a little effort you can make your own blocks and flange to fit your head perfect. I have used the hat shaper forms and they do work ok. I used foam and Duram's water putty. I've seen people use wood filler too.

I made my own blocks so far. I did some hand shaping and those...
