Hi, Gents!
I'm getting married this Spring (Hurrah!) and I'd like to buy a collarless shirt and a detachable collar to go with it. Which online shop would you recommend?
Thank you!
Gents,
I'm desperately looking for a top hat but they seem to be extremely rare in my size, 7 1/2. I was wondering if a professional hatter can expand a top hat as he can a fedora? The reason I ask is because I've seen several 7 1/4 toppers for sale and I wonder if, with a bit of a stretch...
Just what the title says. I'd like to find a top hat sized 7.5 and in good enough condition to wear for a costume party. A very serious costume party, that's why I'm looking for something vintage, not a toy hat.
Thank you!
I just finished mixing all of the ingredients. I can't wait to unseal it in 2 weeks and share the results!
In a glass jar I added:
almonds, dried prunes, peeled pears, cinnamon stick, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, chili pepper, and a bottle of French brandy.
I call it: Liqueur Alonnaise
Guys,
I'd appreciate your opinion on whether this jacket is a good fit. I apologize for the quality of the photos but the lighting at the vintage shop was very poor. The jacket *seemed* like a good fit, but I was a little bit off put by the size of the shoulders...
Someone pointed me to this site: http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/ which rates the hazards in cosmetics products. Worth taking a look.
I looked up American Crew pomade, my pomade of choice, and it scored pretty badly health wise.
I'd like to sell the following documents as a bunch rather than ship each individually. Please make an offer and don't hesitate to ask questions.
1. Song and Service Book for Ship and Field.
This small book is in excellent condition, no markings except the owner's name in pencil "Col. R...
I'm selling the following three hats. I don't remember what I paid for them so just make me an offer. I'm moving and in a hurry to sell.
Stingy brim Cavanagh. Felt and ribbon are both dark brown. Original size (with tag) is 7 1/2. Fine lining.
Biltmore pork pie. Felt and...
Those of you who live within, in the vicinity of, or who travel to Toronto must visit Kensington Market for some vintage shopping. There's a whole street of used/vintage clothing stores and although most of it is awful 1970s fashions, you can occasionally find real gems, like this:
Got this...
Gents,
I'm spending most of my summer months in southern France and the Holy Land. I think a panama hat is my best bet for the Mediterranean sun. Where would I be able to find a good panama for around $50?
Thank you!
You boys wouldn't believe it! Found this at an antique store...
Perfect fit at 7 3/8", 2 5/8" brim, and... Unbashed...

I'm looking for a wide brim (over 2") lid in any shade of brown. I've tried eBay numerous times and always seem to lose the auction at the last minute. If anyone would like to part with a lid of this description, let me know!
Where can I find over-the-knee socks... FOR MEN
I bought a wonderful pair of plus-twos over eBay but I'm having a heck of a time finding suitable over-the-knee socks. The socks have to be over the knee and not just knee high because there is a small gap in the material where the plus twos'...
Mr. Rotman of Rotman's Haberdashery had an accident and, already frail at well over 80 years of age, will probably not reopen his store. Rotman's Haberdashery has established by the elder Mr. Rotman in 1939 and was something of a cultural institution back in the day, when celebrities were...
I was toying with the idea of finding a 19th century cravat (i.e., the long, thin linen wound multiple times around the neck and tied in the front into something like, but not quite, a bow tie) and trying it with a brown waistcoat.
I speak of something like what Victor Hugo is wearing here...
Among the rarities I enjoy collecting (let's face it, I'll collect whatever's old and uncommon) are old travel guides. Here is one I picked up yesterday at a street vendor's entirely by chance.
It's in French and, much to my chagrin, I don't speak the language, but I had to grab it none the...
Gents,
I went to an estate sale for the first time today and found some interesting things. Initially I was slightly disappointed since the website did advertise a lot of antiques. They were either gone in the first hour or there weren't as many as advertised, either way, am I glad I went...
