What changes can a leather tailor actually make? Surely removing existing stitching would leave a mark?
Well, not everything. It can be made tighter and shorter, but not wider and longer, unless something is sewn in.
I had some jackets made a little tighter around the stomach because the material bunched up unattractively there.

Looks like the zipper is right about the belt so I’d be happy with that. Shoulders look good to me. I have a similar fit. I know some want these pretty short but I don’t tuck every shirt I wear and I think this fit looks better to my eye with an untucked shirt.

Other pics of my Buco fit, what do you think ? Thx all!
I think overall it's a pretty decent fit.

In this photo the belt/waist area appears a little bunched up, not sure if adjusting the belt out a notch would (or would not) help?

Otherwise, wear & enjoy it sir! :)

Short time ago I acquired this Aero leather J-100 board racer jacket in Badalassi chestnut brown steerhide. I bought it used from ebay, for previous owner its too small.
Since I have been reading a lot on this website about fits of similar leather jackets, I want to ask you guys what do you think if this is good fit for this jacket.
I feel like it should be shorter for a 1-2cm? Also when unzipped, it has these “creases” on the front from collar to the bottom of the armpit, but that could be also from the width of my shoulders.
I personally think it looks Great on you. The BR is a harder design to fit into correctly, slightly long and narrow or build seems to work perfect, and you fit this one very well.

Hello!

I’ve been looking for a plain black horsehide leather jacket with two side pockets, one zipped ****** pocket, and a large collar since before the pandemic.

Over the years, I’ve tried various models from RMC, Addict, Fine Creek, and others. The closest was the RMC Nelson, which I almost bought. I tried it on twice in different years, but it was always just a little too tight and slightly too short. The search hasn’t been helped by the fact that I live in Stockholm, where very few shops carry high-quality leather jackets, so most of these were tried on during holidays in more leather-jacket-friendly destinations.

Lately, I have been leaning towards taking the plunge with Aero. The Plainsman looks great, and I was hoping the made-to-order process would be good enough. It is a bit scary, though, since unlike tailoring, you cannot make adjustments later.

However, last week I was in London with a list of jackets to try on in various shops (spare a thought for my long-suffering girlfriend), including the Y'2 Leather HVR-42, which finally ticked most of the boxes. My only small doubt is that it feels a little stiffer than I expected. Interestingly, the price is lower than the RMC Nelson cost in 2021, and that one is much more expensive today.

Here are the pictures. What do you think of the fit?

Let's hope I can pull a black leather jacket off, I've only ever owned brown leather jackets (suede, sheepskin and an old cowhide).
The jacket fits perfectly

It looks good, but it can be shorter in length. The folds will remain. This is a feature of the jacket's cut for the convenience of riding a motorcycle.

Thanks, let's just say it's not too tight around the waist. With the jacket closed, I fasten the belt on the second notch. After some thought, the jacket has a lot of character and looks much cooler without the belt and collar. One way to wear it would be to pair it open with a more relaxed outfit

Hey guys, I just got this jacket that I bought off eBay from fellow TFL member @GD JD. The measurements are similar to my Schott 613, although I think this jacket fits a little bit better. It is a bit long in the sleeves, but seems to fit well everywhere else. My 613 is long in the sleeves also. It’s not a big deal to me for an off the rack jacket. It’s a size 44 like my Schott. I could probably fit into a 42, but I think I would have some restriction of movement in the shoulders, and it would be too tight to layer more than a T-shirt.

Here are some initial fit pics.

It is a gorgeous piece of leather and the CXL horsehide is not as stiff as I expected. I suspect it’s been broken in a little bit. It wears very comfortably and I can raise my arms and probably hug someone without an issue. I also don’t notice any pressure on my neck so far, so that’s good. I know that’s been a complaint for some people with Aero jackets.

The fit will also give me a little bit more room to grow as I continue training in the gym. Now I know how an Aero Sheene fits and drapes and how CXL FQHH fits and feels.

The jacket appears to be in excellent condition, very clean and well-made. Not crazy about the high horizontal chest pocket… If I ever had one custom-made, I would get that angled like on my Schott. I would also go for the looped ball and chain puller. Small ****les.

A custom fit would be better, but I prefer to get the best fit I can with an off-the-rack jacket. That way, if I ever have to move it on, it will be easier to flip. I don’t think this one is going anywhere anytime soon, though.

I welcome your thoughts and feedback on the fit.

The sleeves are too long. Overall, the jacket fits well

Hi all,

I've been looking for a while for an A-2 jacket, and finally pulled the trigger on a Dubow 1755 by ELC.

I got size 38 but am trying to decide whether to keep or swap for a size 40. Your opinions would be greatly appreciated.

What are you aiming to improve by sizing up?
Thanks for your reply. To be completely honest, I am not sure.

I never had an A-2, so I my only perception of how it should fit is by looking at pictures of other people. My wife commented that "maybe it's small" but can't really articulate why, which also doesn't help.

The jacket is comfortable and I really like it. I think it would go great with a tshirt, but probably look a bit tight if I wore a thick jumper underneath (certainly couldn't wear it with a hoodie).

I have other jackets that I can wear on top of jumpers (RMC G-1, B15C, etc) so that's not a dealbreaker.

I guess I am mainly looking for your perception of how it fits me.

To me it looks great, as if tailormade for you.

Now, does it fit like an A2 is supposed to fit? That I don't know and honestly I don't particularly care about it fitting like it's historically meant to. I'm partial to slim fits (or flattering fits for heavier lads), so I think you'll be very hard press to do better than what you already have there.
