I've been searching, and found The Hat Guys in Oakland, but does anybody know of a hat cleaner closer to me?

I'm looking in the Sacramento, Stockton, Modesto area.

Trying to avoid travel to the bay area if possible and get somebody closer to home to clean up my Dobbs.

Thanks in advance.

If you search old posts here, you'll see that you
should avoid the Hat Guys in Oakland, too.
They have messed up a few hats for me. I live
in Oakland and won't go there.

But Manteca isn't very far! I go out that way
all the time for bullfights in the summer.

You are lucky just to find a hat store near you period! The Hat Guys have been in business for a long time. If you have had a problem there , just let them know. I'm sure they will correct any mistakes on a hat they've cleaned.

Steven,

I'd like to think so, but no.
As I said, I have brought a
number of hats to them for cleaning,
at different times. They don't clean
the hats themselves and the service they
use does a crummy block. Their repair
work is really bad.

If the hat is nice, it's worth sending to Optimo.
I hate sending out a hat if I don't have to and
I hate the postage. The Hat Guys, in my experience,
will not do good work. The last time we agreed I
would not pay for hats rendered
unacceptable to wear, and would not come back.
They're a low end hat store.

I know others on the list (including Jamespowers as
I recall) have had bad experiences with them.

I wish I knew of another place that did cleaning in that area. I was in San Francisco during the summer and checked out most of the hat places ,but nobody does cleaning anymore. It's a lot of work and many times the customers aren't 100% happy. We have a place near us that does some of the repair work for us when we get backed up and I hate sending people there but it takes time to block and flange hats and it never comes out perfect.

Those in the know use OPTIMO

The Hat Guys send their hats out to a dry cleaners and we all know how THAT industry has changed.

For a decent "clean and block", there is nothing better than Optimo in Chicago. And at TODAYS GAS PRICES, the shipping both ways to OPTIMO is far much a better bargain that driving a couple hours each way "locally".

Optimo can clean, block, re trim, re line, and change ribbons. WHY GO ANYWHERE ELSE?

Optimo is the top of my list, and probably will be getting a call from me REALLY soon.

I just miss doing business face to face with people...

I guess we really are in the future.
