Some wonderful stories here tonight! :eusa_clap

Earlier this year our daughter put her family's name on the local "Giving Tree" or whatever it was called. The fire department picked her family from the tree and dropped off presents for their four kids (two from her husband's earlier marriage.) Lots of clothes and things they could really use, plus some toys.

Our son and daughter-in-law gave me a box set of Bogie and Bacall movies (my dogs are named Bogie and Bacall!) and... a Fedora Lounge lapel pin! :D

I also received the Indiana Jones trilogy box set--I haven't seen the first one since it came out on VHS, and wanted to get back up to speed before the fourth movie comes out.

And... a very simple gold tie clasp with a small diamond, to go with the gold cuff links I received for my birthday last month. :D

To top off the day Rhonda fixed us a wonderful Christmas dinner. I'll be doing the cleaning up of the kitchen and dining room in a bit.

Cheers,
Tom

Very cool watch indeed. Duluth Trading has a number of things i'd like to add to my life, when the money is not so tight.
Thank you, John. I hope it works well with my Woolrich railroad vest. Now all I need is a train! :)

Merry Christmas to you and I am SO glad that your mum is doing better.

Heh. Well I'm not sure if I should exchange it for an iPod or not now from what I'm hearing about Zune. It's not like I'm in a rush to use it. [huh]
What is the word on Zune? I thought it was a capable player?..

Well, it was a rather quiet Christmas for me this year; not that that's bad. It was great just to have a pleasant day with both my parents and our cat.

We had a very nice dinner of chicken and all the trimmings, followed by relaxing by the fire, and watching It's a Wonderful Life.

Present wise, I got a really cool leather box to store my vintage wristwatches in. Funny thing is, I've only got three wristwatches, and since the box has room for six, I guess I'm going to have to do some more shopping one day. Either that or I just have room to grow.

Looks like everyone else here had a pretty good day; glad to hear it! I suppose its not too late to shout out a final "Merry Christmas!" (Hey, its only a quarter to eleven in NM right now...[huh] )

Ooh, me too, I like their self-winding field watch. It's hot.

More important than anything else; Kilroy. My deepest, deepest condolences on your loss.
RedHotRidinghood: Your loss also saddens me. I'm very sorry.

And now, back to the commercialism. :D

My brother, who is on disability, found two vintage items and gave them to me for Christmas. The first is a Griswold Film Splicer, Model R-3, by Neumade. It's for splicing 8mm movie film. It’s in beautiful condition.

The second is another 8mm movie camera. (I think I now have eight. lol) You crank up the spring and run your film through. It's a Bell & Howell ONE-NINE. I like the exposure dial on the front; you turn it to the weather condition – bright sun, hazy, shade and cloudy. Both the camera and the case (with strap) are in excellent condition, and the camera works.

He found both items at a swap meet.

My sister gave everyone in the family hours and hours of work, of which she still has more, by copying old family photos and documents (including the newspaper announcement of my mothers upcoming wedding), and putting them on DVD ROMS and paper. (To the point where my younger brother, the computer guy, gave her and 350 gig hard drive so that she'll have more room to work.) One page contained four photos of my father when he was in the army during the late '50s. She's finished copying the prints, but she still has about two-thirds of the slides to go through. I gave her a gift with a note thanking her for everything she does for our family.

The same sister also has my father's ashes in her living room. This year, she’d bought a glass tree ornament shaped like a train and placed it before his urn. I went over and silently said hello to my father, told him I miss him and wished him a Merry Christmas.

Also, my cat, ‘Tilla, who’d been missing for two days, came home safe and sound about twenty minutes ago. Now I can stop worrying about him. :)

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.

Yeah, just looked at a lot of reviews. Even a year later they're not so favourable. I think I'll either exchange it for an iPod (tried and true) or the first season HD-DVD set of Star Trek. :D

My husband bought himself a Zune when he was home on leave in May and he loves it, so there's one good review. He had an iPod first and hates it.
No decorations, tree or gifts up at my house as I'm postponing our Christmas until he gets back from Baghdad or Kuwait early next year. Hey, there's 11 days of Christmas still to get through anyway, and it's not even Orthodox Christmas yet.

We had a very low-key Christmas. Usually we travel five hours to our families' homes in western Nebraska, but since both hubby and I had to work today, we opted to stay home. Thus, it was just me, hubby, and our daughter yesterday. We had a nice meal of turkey, ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and apple pie, then lounged on the couch all afternoon watching movies and my daughter had the opportunity to play with all her gifts. Usually, we are shuffling from hubby's family to mine, packing up gifts and kids (stepson went to his mom's in Kentucky for Christmas this year, another change) and generally being harried and exhausted.

Not so this year. While I missed my family, it was so nice to just stay home and relax.

A few gifts I received - Ian McEwan's Atonement, the Charlie Brown Christmas game (I collect Snoopy stuff), and a lovely photo my grandmother gave me of she and I when I was around 10 years old.

One of my favorite gifts I gave hubby, though, was a collector's plate of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. :D He has two now, and I believe there are at least four more out there we need. Slowly but surely I'll get them all. :)

I also got a nostalgic record player thing. It was the only thing I really wanted. :eusa_clap
Had a fine Christmas. Went to Corpus Christi, Texas to spend time with family. Got to go thru my childhood and honeys childhood hometown. I think it made him sad though. Even the old school had been torn down.
Watched A Christmas Story with Ralphie about 10 times and caught the end of A Wonderful Life.
My cup runneth over!!
