Another Mallory today. This one a super rich chocolate brown. Really enjoying these old Post Stetson buyout (but pre junk) Mallorys. Great cut color and styling.

Hi folks. Just checking in to show that I haven't completely checked out.

Loading time on the FL has been driving me even more crazy, hence the lack of posts.

Anyway, summer temperatures hit Denmark this weekend, so too hot for felts. However, I was able to wear this very modern, lightweight at 61 grams, funky Borsalino felt for my evening walk today.

Very cool hat Steve. Love the stitching on the crown. I think Eric have the matching brim :D

Gorasgus don't show up all that often. I have Jonathan @TheOldFashioned to thank for two of the three I have. So to find you do indeed need luck. I think you were right on the money with the mid-fifties to early sixties for your hat.
We still haven't come up with a good explanation for the Borsalino names. They don't seem to be completely random, but at this time it's still anyone's guess.
Luck does definitely play a part. Tip offs from our fellow lounge enablers can also be a big help. But we also gotta follow through on that luck and help.... I’m still kicking myself over a pristine Gorasgu in a beautiful color scheme at an incredible price that I forgot to bid on as I was changing the alternator on my daughters car.

First time wearing my latest vintage Yeddo straw boater. I acquired this just a few weeks ago on the bay. The ribbon and vented crown attracted me to this boater. I already had three. So I figured if you have three you might as well have four! As you can see I'm still sporting my stylish back brace.

I can't make out all the printing on the liner. I can see the "Makers of the genuine Sunrise Straw Hat." And I see the "Swiss" in the lower left (at an angle) of the logo. But the word on the other side (lower right at the angle) has me baffled?

Hi, Jeff. I've had a brown vintage bowler on my eBay search list for a while now, but they don't show up.
Are old bowlers very rare?
Indeed they are. I’ve only seen a few over the past 10-12 years. One lounger here seems to have a nose for lots of different colors. I love bowlers but I don’t like black hats, so custom is usually my preferred method there.

Outstanding beautiful, beautiful Gorasgu. Gorasgu has such wonderful proportions as you now know, Randall.
I’m impressed with how many different felts and finishes they come in. Angora, Silchi are two elegant long hair finishes with finely felted edge and over-welt edge respectively. Then the light as a cloud, dense thinly felted, bound edged Garasgu that crease with a sneeze are as nice a hat as can be found. Borsalino at their finest are the Gorasgu’s.
Congratulations on all your new acquisitions, i look forward to seeing more of them. Thanks for sharing.
B

Thanks, Bowen!
Great expression of words for a great fedora.
If ever I could’ve ordered a Borsalino to exact specifications it would’ve looked just like this “Gu”, but great hats couldn’t be had after 1965.
Thank God for second hand (head) chances!

Doh!
To have every hat that I’ve forgotten to bid on...

Can’t figure out how you so majestically pull off a boater, suspenders, power tie and brace so well, but you certainly do, Bill!

I think that nearly illegible word on the liner spells, “Killer hat” !!

Today was my first day wearing my Emerald Gray Hufvud Bogart with a 25 mm blue metal ribbon. As I got off shift this morning, the early morning sunlight really shows the green hues of the felt.

Getting ready for some yard work this afternoon after church. The felt took on a far more gray appearance in the afternoon sunlight.

Up with the sun rise for a dog soirre. A vintage Stetson Bantam was my fedora choice.

Filling the bird feeders in a Monson fedora in a lovely blue hued felt. The orioles and hummingbirds emptied the feeders yesterday.

Walking the water front sipping coffee early morning is perfect. The only noise is birds, wind, waves and my dog. Peaceful walk sipping coffee in a Gannon Wanderer (blue felt).

I have not seen any other humans yet this morning. The grill is warmed and venision sausage and potatoes are grilling. I am sipping a pilsner beer waiting for my breakfast. A Stetson Whippet is my "grilling hat."

Magnificent velour, Steve. They do exist, but you need ninja-like hat-finding skills like yours to find them.
Stefan, Thank you! As usual a great series of Hats from you! Is the Panama an Aurel Huber?

Bill, There is still a Straw Hat Maker (Kurt Wismer) in Switzerland (Hägglingen) that makes them. They are called Röhrlihüte in German.
