Schizophrenic weather here! I was riding the motorcycle in short sleeves today! Yet the fall colors are in full swing. Looks like 70s for the first part of the week.

After temps in the 80s just a few days ago, fall arrived big-time yesterday. Temps today are just in the 40s/50s (30s tonight), and the foliage - which was only about 30% turned last weekend here at my thousand-foot-elevation locale - is now way past peak, only about a third of the trees still have leaves.

About ten days ago - these trees are all bare now:

85. So Fall-like. Think I wore a long sleeve shirt for part of one day last week. Ugh.

We'll have another two seconds of Autumn again after another rain late next month. And then BAM! Christmas! Which will also be 85 degrees.

Kind of a tricky situation here. It is in the low 70s the last few days, but the house doesn't like to warm up above the mid 60s! I really don't want to turn the heat on when it is this warm out. I guise it is time to do the ultimate old geezer thing, and buy a sweater to walk around the house. :)

We're having SNOW FLURRIES here right now! In October! This is a solid three or four weeks earlier than usual, and it doesn't bode well for the coming winter...
And we, on the other hand, are still having daytime highs well into the 80s. I suppose that's going to work out well for my daughter wearing her Wonder Woman costume for halloween, but I myself am ready for some weather that's a little more fall-ish. And to top it off, it's been so dry that now that the trees are beginning to change, they're only turning a dull brown. Last weekend we took a drive up into the northeastern part of the state hoping to see some fall foliage, but the hills in the distance just looked like they were covered with dirt.

We still had warm weather here until about a week ago. Most of the foliage turned/fell much faster than usual, as everything's severely water-stressed with the near-drought conditions up here too.

It's snowing much harder now than when I posted before, but it's supposed to turn to rain when temps rise later this morning, with no significant accumulation. Still, getting any snow here in October is really atypical!

Temps are around 80°F here today, but they're predicting rain overnight and tomorrow with high temps in the low-70s. Then another chance of rain on Sunday, and again on Tuesday, and by this time next week temps back up into the mid-80s. o_O

In the 70's at 10:30. Ugh. I've learned to just grab a sweater when it's cold in the house & not to get in the middle of my parents thermostat battles. Not just a geezer thing. LOL!

Don't ever get between a married couple and the thermostat! :)

At Christmas, at my girlfriend's parents' house, I sit placidly by as the unspoken (WASPs have an incredibly ability to keep a surface calm) thermostat wars rage on with indoor temperatures changing as much as ten degrees several times a day (when the troops are actively engaged; other times, one side or the other has retreated and the temperature is consistently hot or cold that day).

I simply take on and off my sweater or sweatshirt, sometimes several times a day, without saying a word. Everybody seems happy and Christmas is fun even as the temperature inside pings up and down.

That sounds about right.
You still have any RS marshmallow pumpkins left?

Autumn in The New Forest is great. All you need is the remnants of a puddle and you have a great mud splash. It helps if your age is in single figures, or pension age.

At this time of the year there's quite a foggy mist, but you can still see some majestic sites. It's also the rutting season.
