Good to see you back. We’ve missed seeing your hats and glimpses into a lifestyle many of us can only dream of.

You can rock the stingy! If you have a smaller head then the vintage hat market will be exceptionally kind to you.

Thanks. I have a 7 1/8 head size. I always see a lot out there, but unfortunately living in Canada has put most vintage hats out of reach. Even modern ones are becoming too expensive with shipping + import fees.

On second look, it looks like your horse is on the mend too!! Hope it’s ok as well!!
Same crash and burn as you?
B

Naw, she's been on the mend since July. Young filly just 2 years old. She ran into a wheel line playing around. Looks nasty and we have to change bandages every two days. Takes me 20 minutes or so on the good days and only 7 layers to each bandage :) But it hasn't slowed her down any. And she is a real jewel to work on. She'll eventually be fine but they do take a long time to heal up. Thank goodness she can heal up :)

Thanks on both counts. I know there are a lot of us here that worry about our animals. The bandage is mighty big on Nellie but the actual cut and scar is about the size of my wife's palm of her hand may be 3x3" now. But because of where it is at you have to bandage dang near her entire leg to keep a bandage on. Looks worse than it really is. Just glad it wasn't any worse.

Another one of our wayward crew today....this is Boo. She is our other 2 year old filly. Both are sweethearts we've had with us since they were weaned.

If you like Appy's or just horses and blue sky take a look here. We are no doubt very blessed.

Today I am wearing the Hufvud that arrived without trouble from Sweden to Mexico City.
It had a different-colored ribbon when it got here, but Mikael sent me an extra ribbon in the box the hat arrived in, and I liked this one better, so I had Ignacio replace it.
The first picture is of the box the hat arrived in. It is very well designed to preserve the hat, but I wish I had an Hufvud box to keep the hat in, like the ones Optimo and VS provide. Mikael sends a nice cloth dust cover instead.
I gave Mikael my size as 58.7, and he sent me a size 59. It was too big, so I asked Ignacio to conform it to my head.
Now that it fits perfectly, I am much happier with it. [emoji5]
As I told Brent by PM, I really like the shape, proportions and color. The leather sweatband and its markings are beautiful. The quality of the craftsmanship itself looks very good to me, although I know I am no expert.
I had never had a rabbit/hare blend felt in my hands before. It is soft and looks nice from a distance, but it feels a little coarse to the touch, and is difficult for me to shape even with steam, again probably because I am no expert.
I must say I feel there is a disparity between the design and quality of Mikael's work and the quality of the felt he has to work with.
It is as if Willi Geller, the famous dental ceramist, had to make crowns with Ceramco porcelain, not Vita porcelain.
I am still very happy with the way it looks on me.

Thanks for the review of your new custom. What interests me is that sweat, looks to be something special.

‘50s Knox Westlite today.

Gorgeous Knox Jay. The Westlite that I sent to Stefan in Holland had a mid ribbon (poorly done replacement) I wonder if it started out with a thin ribbon?

This is a great color combo Rodolfo. I like the dark ribbon with the light felt. Nice change.

Hat Porn my friend!

Fall is here. It really cooled off last night and finally feels as if the season is changing.
Mallory Dallas for Saturday errands.

Fantastic Mallory Jim. Good to see it in action.

Resistol's idea of granite is more Battleship Gray than Winchester's odd green gray. I like this tone Brent.

Today it’s an old favorite of mine just because it matches these awesome vintage Stewarts. Was gettin in some boot/leather jacket time...gotta have the right hat!!
Stetson Nutria, rowboat crease and the guy on a horse embroidered liner.
Be well. Bowen
Perfect!!
Love the rowboat, cool name for a crease.

Hey everyone!
This Dobbs West with it's beautifully embroidered liner tip gets the job today.

So glad to have you back John, getting to know your hats all over again. Dig that liner.

Jack posted his in the Heather and Yon thread the other day and I thought to myself "ooh, that's a nice hat.....wait, I have one of those too!"
BSHW charcoal grey heathered felt, scorch finish, Berkeley Marina.
Very nice Jared, love that finish.

OR again today :)

That is such a cool military cap. Good to see this one coming out of summer slumber.

Nice hat Red! The gray and burgundy contrast make a great splash.
Thanks D. You were rocking today as well. Skull buckets have come a long way!

Wearing the Champ today. It started as a beater, but after cleaning and brushing it has really grown on me. Even with the mothing at the crown ribbon I treasure this one and baby it, just a little bit. Probably my oldest hat.
Thanks again @Wesslyn for this sweet Champ fedora.

The brim binding and ribbon color on that Champ is sweet Doug.

Thanks Red. I think it was happy to get out into the woods. Also has the added appeal of being the same age as me.

Today, or this morning at least, I'm going with Gordon

I ran out of whole bean coffee yesterday, so I think a resupply mission is getting penciled in for today.
