Any recent pictures of modern Dark Grey Borsalinos here? I recently got a Taupe (brownish grey) Verdi and will probably get a Steel Grey one also, wondering if a Dark Grey is better more versatile than say a Brown one. I like the Verdi. Thanks

I don't know if there is a better thread for this question......but, this is the "ask a question" thread, so I guess it will do.

Can someone tell me some back ground and information about a...Templeform by StylePark..Aristo.
Is Templeform a company name, brand name or a style name?

thanks

Ok, I stretched my akubra cattleman where I like it. I actually over stretched it a bit and packed a little foam in the sweatband so if it shrank again I could just remove some of the foam. Just through the course of the day I've actually had to remove some already. My question is this: Will it shrink back to original size or will I have to repeatedly stretch. If so, thats more trouble than I want out of a hat. I want to wear it and forget about it. Get it dirty and earn it some character and enjoy it being on my sweaty head.
Old standard answer = it depends. Try to let it dry on your head if at all possible or the stretcher. If it dries free-form, it'll need stretching again. Condition the sweat to replace oils in the leather. I have a stretched Campdraft that stays but other hats of all makes that I keep in shape with stretchers, especially after working up a good sweat.

Fedora with a Cardigan?

I am planning to buy a navy Drake's cardigan sweater as soon as my tax refund hits the bank. I am usually pretty confident about my taste but this time I am betting $1,000 that the cardigan will look ok with a dark gray fedora. Any opinions? Is this, perhaps, something that nobody ever, ever does?

I'd say that one of those navy sweaters from Drake's would look great with a grey fedora. I'd certainly wear that combination.

Don't forget, you're buying VAT free. This amounts to about 15% of the listed price. You may have to remind them to deduct VAT from your price. If my calculations are correct, this represents a savings of about $165. All incoming US duties will be on you.

For those of us lacking confidence in our abilities, is it possible to acquire a ribbon, from a skilled hatmaker (for a price of course) and then simply install it ourselves?

It's also easy enough to get ribbon from anywhere and do the same. I got ribbon from a fabric store and applied it to an old bushman hat to give it a different style.

I'm not familiar with Drake's cardigans, but if you're betting on it ;) you could save $970 by gambling on a cardigan from Kohl's. I do it all the time, with derbies, homburgs, fedoras, and even westerns.

Ok, I've been wearing hats for a while, but I'm finally getting ready to get a brush to do some cleaning. I have a stupid question and I couldn't find my answer by using the search (too much to sift through). I know that you should use a light colored brush for a light hat and a dark colored brush for a dark hat. My main question is "why?"

Would it hurt my darker hats to use a light brush and visa versa?

The recommendation has to do with not transferring dark fibers from your dark hat to your light hat, and vise versa.
