I'm rather sceptical about this actually, because surely the level of sun protection would be dependent upon how thickly applied the product was...

I used EDM Natural Reflection Fair a couple of months ago for an outdoors Fair and I did apply it over my SPF 15 moisturizer. I didn't burn though and I do burn fairly easily, got a sunburn this past weekend in fact after spending too much time in the sun at a field trip and forgetting sunscreen at home.

I just started making my own TM out of mmu and my normal facial lotion and I am surprised it took me this long to start. My skin can sometimes be a bit dry for most mmu and lately the mmu has not been wearing well and the finish has been blotchy by the afternoon. I mixed the mmu with my moisturizer this morning and it wore much more evenly. I love how you can control how much coverage you want. I was actually going to go out and buy some more CG Smoothers TM since I'm running out when I was on makeupalley and read a review in which someone mentions doing it. Save money and gas, better finish and color match. Hmm, win win situation.

mineral-make-up makes me wrinkly!

Got my everyday mineral make-up in the mail today and I the colour are great but I get wrinkly around my nose, not to speak of under my eyes. The powder seems to underline every wrinkle.

What should I do? I only use an ordinary moisturizer. Maybe I should have one that's fatter? Or what else? Not a word has been spoken about this, am I the only one?

hmm, that sounds odd Mary, but try the following things.

Mineral makeup sort off melts into your skin, so wait and see how it looks after 20 minutes.

less is more, if you need more coverage, do two light layers than one heavier.

spritz with a facial spray after to set & moisturize your face a bit, gives a more dewy/fresh apperance

Blend some of the powder with your skincreme and make a fluid foundation instead, but remember a normal coat of moisturizer under. You can make it as light or heavy as you want. When the foundtion has dried, it will look perfectly matte.

Mary,

Don't worry..not just you....

in addition to Darhling's ideas above

try using less in those areas...and buffing with the brush a lot more to spread things out....I find that the -more- powder where i have issues...the more it crinkles and shows up as try...

and yes...really really moisturize..those areas are drier and so get crinkled as well.

I agree with Darhling and Miss Neceerie:

1. Remember to moisturize with a nice cream. Personally, I really love face oil, but now Jurlique has discontinued the oil I loved. I really, really love the moisturizers Jurlique makes, they have a heavenly calendula cream as well.

2. Use the poweder sparingly, very important.

3. Buff, buff, buff, buff - a lot. Circular motions with the brush, a good big one:

4. Let it set, my mineral powder always looks better after 10-20 minutes.

5. Spray with a rosewater (or whatever else you like) spray afterwards, it feels really nice, you can also use it to freshen up during the day.

6. Try taking a cotton pad and soak it with icy cold water and dab it on your skin gently to remove excess powder and to set it as well (I think Jitterbugdoll recommended this a while ago).

But, with all that said, I also sometimes flake because of my mineral makeup, it seems to be hard to eliminate this totally (even when buffing for 10 minutes and using the powder sparingly), especially around the nose and the outer corners of my eyes. I usually either take the icy wet cotton pad and dab or I take some face oil or other moisturizer and just dab it gently on that area.

I've started mixing my mineral make up with my factor 50 sunblock, works a treat, then I'm setting it with a little Coty airspun powder (thanks for the tipMs Dodgette!)

It looks amazing!

I get the wrinklies too, and this one works for me. It really makes the difference between overly made-up flour face and natural-looking 'second skin'. Mineral make-up also has a tendency to clog up my pores big time (although it's said to not clog pores) if I don't remove the excess this way.

What formula are you using?

I ordered my samples in semi matte as EM stated that it was best for combination skin. But I’ll order in one of the matte formulas next time. That in combination with powder (if I could just decide one witch one to get…) should be the solution to the shininess for me.

And for the first time in my life I’m thinking that the colour I have is to light, and I should try a shade darker for the summer months. It’s so great to know that when February/March comes, and I’m pasty white after the winter, I can get even lighter shades if I need to.

I definately reccomend experimenting with different textures/fomulas. You can also try mixing foundations with powder until you find your perfect one.

I have allways loved the silk powder and the rice powder, and I find that priming my face with the powder before I apply foundation, and powdering a little on top of the foundation really keeps shine away and make-up in place. EM also has a powder called "Start to finish" or sometjhing, that I think is made for that purpose. I'm going to try that next.

I finally figured out what it was.... WOW.. I have never heard of this brand...

Using Sheer Cover... and it works great.. but its 60$ for a 3 month supply....

sometimes it has its moments where it works incredibley... then some days it just falls right off.. LOL

I think it just might be my face.. LOL
just order the sample.. cause I must try.. since this product is being raved about!

Thanks for your advice again. I used some mineral make-up on sunday and I think the photos turned out better than without foundation. And it didn't itch cause I had a really fat cream (42 % fat) underneath it. So I haven't tried any of your tips. but will do once I get a proper brush!

I looked on the crown bushes but you have to buy brushes for 25 dollar and I only want one but of good quality. Where can I get an okey-quality in Sweden. Or is it like the powder, you have to send for it?

You can buy a kabuki brush from Lily Lolo, it's a nice brush and very cheap and their mineral makeup is good too.

I don't know any shop in Malmö, but Pureshop in Copenhagen sells mineral makeup and brushes. Also, in Magasin in Copenhagen, the brand Youngblood sells mineral makeup (not very good makeup in my opinion), and they also might have brushes. But expect to pay a minimum of 200 DKK if you buy in a shop in Cph.

Avon do a nice one that's available in England, but I tried the Collection 2000 one and it just caked no matter what I did.

I've given up on it tbh...

These are great recommendations. For the spray, I saw some people using the MAC Fix + spray and it works better then plain water or a couple of other sprays I tried that helped refresh makeup later in the day, but would make it look really obvious on my skin and this one really does keep my skin from drying out with the mmu and the finish is even better than normal.

Hmm...

I was using Bare Minerals for a while, and while I LOVED the way my skin looked (talk about porcelain smooth) my skin got so dry it started flaking on me. It took forever to figure out it was the Bare Minerals. I've debated on trying another brand, just too see if it was a fluke. I might check out some of the sites you ladies posted about!
