But I did pick up this pretty cool picture of a guy wearing a hat:

Waiting for this one to arrive - it may be that rare hat that really has never been worn - or else that "protective paper" was installed so the lid would fit the owner's melon...either way I'm hoping it lives up to expectations.

It exceeds my expectations! Hardly any signs of wear, supple sweatband, ultra-clean...and it is indeed Oxblood red, not brown. More pics later in New Hats and Disney Diner.

Playboyesque Worth & Worth

Here's one that might be worth (haha) the $21 gamble. I know nothing about these, but looks like a frayed bow and possibly a leather sweatband with ribbon covering...but not sure.

Hat has arrived. It's Royal Playboy quality - very soft and floppy. Not a frayed bow, but has three points to the back end. Sweatband is grosgrain. Appears to be old ('40s), but I don't know. Misshapen on arrival, it is now finishing drying after a soaking, scrubbing, and re-shaping. Beautiful heather moss green:

I was watching that one as well. Great job restoring it Scott!:eusa_clap

Thanks. It's tough (for me) to fix badly misshapen ones when I don't remove the sweatband, but the grosgrain sweat allowed extra flexibility. Steam would have gotten me nowhere with this one.

Grrr...

So, how to handle people who won't send payment these days? I know you can't leave bad feedback anymore. Do you all just open a non-payment case and let that play out? Is there anything else that can be done?

It seems like there's little way to enforce people honoring their winning bids anymore! I guess if someone lets several go, they can end up suspended, but it seems like a violation here or there doesn't amount to much.

Woo-hoo Salty, I'm having hat envy now. Saw it in more detail over at Disney Diner. Soon expect to see it in "hats on a stick". Great color and style - one of the most distinctive to turn up in a while. You got a keeper! Congrats!

When it happens to me I make a cancel transaction request and move on. I love the stories people give you when they change their mind:rage: :rage: .......

A lucky Lounger won this Ancient Peschel for $22.89

Also a Chocolate Flavored Austrian $26.00

Did you win these?

That Peschel velour is as rare as it gets! :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

I have never seen a hat from the original Peschel factory. It has to be some where in 20s or 30s. I can't remember dating details regarding Czecho-Slovakia.

The brown velour is amazing too. I wonder who the maker is? Might be similar situation to your other Austrian one.

Just goes to show that you can get what you want if you are patient. Unfortunately I missed out on the Austrian but I am not complaining as I will patiently wait for that ancient Peschel to show up. :)

Congrats! As I mentioned above that is a super rare one. Looking forward to seeing detailed photos.

Stetson 3X dress western

Just arrived - no pics yet, as it needs a good brushing. It's a real beauty - much nicer than the pics, but just as small :( as advertised.

This is a 1950's Stetson dress western - 5 1/2" crown, 2 5/8" brim, slightly stiff with a very slight pencil curl (less at front and back), and the brim is not snappable, but will come down just a hair.

Not a hat you will see often, and normally it will have a corded western-style ribbon. Ribbon on this one is dark green or bluish-black, frayed. Guessing '50s because of the blocking tag - plain white with type.
