American Odyssey--- an acid trip fantasia through film history starring George Lucas

Hello Loungers and friends, Pardon my absence-- I hope everyone is doing well and that this message finds you all in good tidings. I recently finished my degree for a BFA in Theatre from NYU Tisch, and I am back to share with you my first big concept film that has been brewing for the last 18...

    Flecked Shirts

Hey, I've seen some original 1920s examples of shirts like this one that we just got in a Rugby for our spring transition line. It is a broadcloth or a an end-on-end with stripes and flecks that sort of feel like braille. Anybody have any or know anything about this style? You need to go to...

Why does this look wrong to me? (Cary Grant Picture)

Everything here fits, with the exception of sleeves that could use 1/4" or so...but what is so off about this look on Cary Grant? Is it just too snug? Or because it's white? This may be the only picture of Cary Grant where I have questioned how impeccably dressed he is.

    Spring/Summer Flannel Slacks

For those breezy evenings or brisk days, I love the look of cream or gray flannel trousers. The look has been cataloged in the annals of menswear, on celebrities, Esquire, AA. It's there. But it's not here. It was featured on a man on the Sartorialist a few days ago. I've been looking everywhere...

    Brand new J.Peterman Navy Sweater

Hey, I bought this sweater on eBay a few weeks ago and doesn't fit me quite slim enough and the sleeves are wee long. It's pretty much in perfect condition. Size S Navy Chest: 38" Center Back Sleeve Length: 33-1/2" Front Length: 26" Does anyone want to take it off my hands...

Size 36 Gray Cheviot with Blue stripe Double Breasted 6x2

This is a beautiful, practically mint mid-late 40s double breasted 6x2. Only flaw is a slight rust mark that is hard to find- it's under the overlap in the front, and the pattern makes it all but disappear. I've had this jacket altered to fit me, so the chest and shoulders should fit like a...

FS: 6x2 Double-Breasted Navy Herringbone Suit

Probably mid-40s suit. Excellent condition, no mothing as far as I can see. Slightly loose seam on right shoulder, but unnoticeable when worn- Just needs a quick tacking stitch or two. Nice wide, straight leg trousers with belt loops and suspender buttons, and zipper fly. Size is a 35 or 36S...

Armstrong & Miller Show RAF Skits *some profanity in skits*

I thought some of you might get a kick out of these short skits made by Armstrong & Miller, a British show. In these skits, they play incompetent RAF pilots that talk like contemporary people in what would otherwise be tense situations. These two are my favorite two: Captured by Nazis In...

    Several Size 36-38 Suits

Would there be any interest for a few size 34-38 suits? I have 2 suits and 1 jacket that I rarely wear and their departure would free up some closet space. One of the suits is a black and red subtle plaid over a navy blue ground, medium weight wool. 6x2 Double breasted. The suit dates...

    Hat on Fashion Blog

And it happens to be mine....I had the pleasure of being stopped in SoHo today by a fashion blogger similar to the Sartorialist. Sadly, I wasn't really dressed up like I usually am due to the gloomy weather here in the Big Apple...tsk tsk far too casual. I had visited Face Hunter before and...

    Made in China

This is one of the two suits I had made in Shanghai for about $80 each. The tailor did a pretty good job overall, but there are just a few things that are throwing it off from being perfect. This is a medium-weight double breasted blue suit. High armholes This was originally...

    Sam's Tailor Linen Suit

I had a linen suit made last week when I was in Hong Kong by the well-known Sam's Tailor. Well, I'll let the pictures do the talking: Single Breasted 3-button rolled to the middle, peak lapels, patch pockets The belted back Wide, straight-legged pants High-waisted...

    Bird Poop

So I'm wearing my new '33 suit down the street today and guess what happens? A bird poops on the sleeve! I'm in the bathroom for 10 mins. with wet paper towels dabing it out. I've got it all out, it seems. There's no stain or scent left on the suit. The fabric is so old and I don't want to dry...

Perfect Stetson Straw Boater with Chocolate Ribbon Sz 7 Long Oval

I have a really beautiful boater in almost perfect condition. I just won it on ebay but it doesn't fit very well. The straw is a nice golden color with a beautiful brown ribbon with 2 gold bands surrounding a thin white one. There is a slight red mark on it, but you can barely notice it. The...

    Widening a Boater?

I just bought a lovely new boater, but it is a size 7 Long Oval....I thought I was a long oval because new hats tend to fit too wide on the sides....well, I thought wrong. Is there any way to stretch the sides out to fit me better? I have a hat jack- would this help any?

    Fuzzy Society Club Fedora

I bought this hat about 2 years ago thinking it was a size 7....it turned out to be a 7 1/4 so I rarely ever take it out if its box! I decided to crack it open for a steaming and changed the C-crown (which made the hat look really boxy) to a center dent. The felt on this baby is really...

Charcoal Gray '40s style small (38) suit for sale

That's a sharp suit, Wingnut. It even has some waist suppression! That center vent could be closed by a tailor, too.

    FL influencing Armani?

From the New York Times "Milan Takes a Pledge of Sobriety": "Giorgio Armani, for instance, has not often been more in tune with his idiom. The soft suiting and slightly feminized shapes that were his early adaptation to Neapolitan tailoring were, for once, not sidetracked by excursions into...

Shopping in NYC for the Vintage-Minded

Hey there New Yorkers, I'm visiting NY on Tuesday and was wondering if there's any places I should go to, whether during this short trip or later in the summer? I've visited JJ Hat Center a few times, and may stop in to say hello. I've also been to not-so-Cheap Jack's and Andy's...
