Hello,
I was not sure where to post this, so am asking here.
I am looking for information on 19th century Finland where it concerns the burgher class. I had emailed the Finnish Maritime Museum with regards to my research and did not get a response with regards to my question about the...
Hello,
I tried to find a way to change my User ID here from 'Prien' to 'The Lonely Navigator' but have been unable to find a way to do it - unless I am unable to do so. I just wanted to change it since I no longer attend WWII events and aren't involved in the hobby and such anymore.
If...
Hello,
I've moved to a new (bigger) apartment and have acquired some pieces that I was wondering if someone out there could help me 'date'. I would like to do most of my apartment in Edwardian-1920s style (and even later 19th c. too - 1890s). Thanks for any information.
(I know...
Hello,
Since I am not involved with the WWII living history anymore, my focus is now on the Edwardian-1920s eras and I was wondering if anyone here could help me with regards to groups, forums, networks that focus on these eras specifically. It seems like a lot of the vintage/retro living...
Hello -
I'm selling my two art deco vases:
The one on the left is a jadeite colored bakelite 'Solitaire' vase by the Dura Co. (1935) - it has a very small chip in the chrome on the base and was used over time so there is dust deep inside. I'm asking $45 for it.
The other is a pewter...
Hello All,
It's with a heavy heart that I am the bearer of bad news today. I know some of you folks met her in person at Reading's event.
My friend whom I have attended events with was in a serious slip and fall accident late last month. She wound up in a coma and had to have part of her...
I have these WWII U.S. Gasoline Ration items for sale. I don't know too much about this, so bear with me:
There are four cards folded in half that are 'Mileage Ration Identification Folder'(s). They are to Oddfellows Cemetery (in Danville, PA where I live).
The first one has the date...
Hello,
I am asking those here that do 'Lufty' aircrew impressions where they have bought their 'gauntlet gloves' because I have been looking for these for my own use (the U-Boat crews did use them as well) and have not had much success.
Thanks for any help. :)
As I've been working on my own site, I happened to stumble across this. Some of you folks may already know about it, but I thought I'd share anyway in case some don't.

Hello,
I have decided to move on from this hobby and just focus on my U-Boat interest. I'm doing this mainly because of living alone and with my health (and having been ill earlier this month) I realized that I really needed to simplify my life more in many ways. I have chosen to change my...
These canisters are in decent shape. They date from 40s or 50s (if anyone knows more on them, please let me know). They have obvious wear and very light tarnish, some scrapes and scratches from use. Coffee canister has slight dent in the back. The handle of the sugar canister has some white...
Hello,
I am selling some items on eBay and at first I was hesitant to list anything here as I wasn't sure if anyone would be interested, but have decided to put up a post with one of my auctions and then if anyone is interested in my other items they can check on my eBay profile.
Vintage...
I wanted to put up a separate thread for this as I've been finding some more stuff that may be of interest to those who wish to visit the U 505:

I've come across many many Allied officers having respect for Doenitz and the U-Boat crews. In the book 'Doenitz at Nuremburg' there are numerous letters to Doenitz stating their respect:
"I am grateful for the opportunity of being one of the many World War II veterans to pay homage to a truly...

Not too long ago, I went for a visit to a friend's house. They had a booklet from 1943 with wartime recipes. I went through it and found quite a few that I liked and copied them down. I then went through some of their other 1930s - 40s recipes booklets and wrote down more.
I liked these...
I had waited since December to get this (the owners spent winter in Florida). Picked it up on Saturday.
I thought this was a pin, but it's a pendant apparently - I paid only a bit over $23 for it (it must have had a small discount as it was marked for $24). The reasons why I was so determined...
Hello,
Sorry for taking a long time with this - had much going on and just many goofy changes with life. So - I did manage to find some new things, and do have photos of them...I don't have any decent 'apt. photos' due to having dealt with ants in my kitchen - so it's somewhat a disorganized...
Hello All,
In the building in which I live, I will be moving into another apt. It's got some more room and will put $60 back in my pockets. It's on the second floor and much of the vintage stuff remains, even two lights (there is a neat deco fixture on the wall and one above the sink)...
I learned about this through the U-Boat Society and thought that many here would be interested - there is also a 'sister' network connected with this for vintage living which I had also joined:
