Photo on the left taken at 04:00 on January 7, 2018. Photo on the right, taken three days later, at 14:00 on January 10, 2018. Same location. Same thermometer.

Eastern North Carolina weather. Don’t like it? Wait a minute, it’ll change.

That's not the sort of weather one associates with England...
Is it not? english weather is not famous for being the best anyways, but north to south it changes quite a lot. The south can be decently sunny and warm, so to say,...but the further north you go the more "game of Thrones/john snow" type of weather emerges!

These up and down temperatures are crazy; when it goes from the teens up into the 50’s over night, you get heavy fog! A mariner’s worst nightmare. Friday we had zero visibility, rain and growler ice floes across the harbor. Nine hours of high-stress/zero-vis navigation through the always-busy NY harbor was one of my least favorite days as a captain

Just start a new thread entitled "Thor's awesome as hell pics of the best jacket weather".
Insta-follow!
@ButteMT61 Thanks Scott! I appreciate those words. That’s really what it’s all about: finding the right jacket to wear for whatever weather condition we happen to be in!:D
My wife actually collected my boat pics and had them made into wall calendars; we printed a bunch and gave them out to friends. Very popular! Next year we’ll print more.

Late last week we had three days of above-freezing temperatures which meant the gravel driveway thawed slightly and some dirt patches turned to mud... Everyone know where I'm going with this story, right?... On Friday when I returned from lunch with a friend I parked as normal. But the temperatures plummeted over the weekend and everything re-froze, including the mud on the driveway, which stuck hold of the front tires of my car. No amount of pushing or chipping away at it would free the car. I called my mechanic to ask if I got it pulled by a tow truck was there any danger of snapping a transaxle or something. His son said, why not run the car for a while and it might warm up the mud enough to free the car. I've got a Civic, which sits really low to the ground, so it made sense, and indeed it worked fine. So I'm mobile again! Otherwise I would have had to wait until this upcoming weekend when it's supposed to warm up again.

15-20 cm of snow tonight, predicted. I'm not holding my breath waiting for it, but I'm sure we'll get something significant.

No A-2s here in London... Maybe two if you can manage it. B-10 does well, but flight jackets aside for now.

We have about 1-3" of snow here in Blighty and the whole country has ground to a halt!
Nice weather for my Irvin though (even if it is fake!;))

That's what my family over there said (they originated here in Canada). They said it's a lot of snow for people who've mostly seen snow only in a snow globe!

We got around 8" overnight. It's a winter friggin' wonderland today!

In Wales there has been 51cm of snow (in the Vale of Glamorgan, the southernmost district) and record low local daytime AND night-time temperatures in the industrial valleys (Tredegar -6C at night, -4.7C mid-day yesterday). And this is a generally mild part of Britain.
