How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

This arrived, sadly too big. One of those jackets I really regret doesn't work. Germany made, 80's I guess in leather that's just beyond perfect. Heavy yet super soft and easy to wear, beautiful sheen & texture. Hard to capture it on a photo but maybe you can see. Just the right kind of black leather.

This is one of those European jackets made to do the job. Very well put together, tough as nails, some lovely details all around tho nothing that doesn't serve some kind of purpose. Six pockets. Padded rayon lining.
Hard not to love a jacket like this.

I broke down and asked the seller for a picture of the P2P. It turned out to be a bit bigger than stated in the description. So, in addition to the Sears MC jacket, this Windward is on the way.

Those sleeves look mega wide, though. Very nice jacket in any case.

Something I've learned about myself... While I ought to not care, cross zip without pocket zipper piping is a complete deal breaker for me and I can't even understand why. I've missed out on quite a few otherwise brilliant Perfectos for that reason.

I did notice that. Some of the old Windward MC jackets do have the piping but I can’t recall which (piping or no) is the norm. I bought this jacket partially because of the Jelado repro I used to own that was too small. It was awesome. No piping on that one either. Now I need to find a Sportclad for a good price.

In any case, obviously not a deal breaker for me.

What do you mean with pocket zipper piping?

I thought there was the 'basic' zipper pocket:

Piping / cording is sometimes used to prevent the zipper from getting stuck on cloth fabric:

@Marc mndt , yeah, welts is what I meant. I just dislike exposed zippers and to such an extent that it will stop me from buying an otherwise beautiful jacket, even if the deal is good.
Same as I dislike these round zipper pulls with a passion. I'd rather have key rings instead. But I'm not saying they're bad or ugly, just something I simply dislike. Was thinking of starting a thread about what is it that people don't like to see on jackets but it might go south...

Let it go South :)
I think these days we are able to get a good conversation out of these kinds of topics, there have been many interesting conversations lately :)

For my part, what I don't like to see on jackets... I need to think. I don't have a quick answer off the top of my head

I hate to see these zipper pulls too. I think that's because I associate them with fashion / mall jackets. These are never seen on quality jackets. Same holds for the 'echtes leder' tag

^Those zipper pulls were ubiquitous on mall jackets at some point in the 90s early 00s. I can see why you hate them with a passion!

Beautiful jacket, though. Look at that lining. I bet it's warm.

Super warm, and inded very beautiful, but imagine her with diamond pulls, or Waldes chain and ball, or even Talon teardrop pullers... She would be incredible!

This one is actually made from horsehide just like the 613H i sold you, side by side there was no difference between them.

Edit: Gratuitous lining shot (yes it has a shimmer when seen in the light)

USPS doing a rare delivery on a Sunday morning. I should have another coming today and several next week.

This is a Meyers of Salem Oregon. I have seen this label before. There was a thriving industry throughout the USA producing native game hides into garments. This example is unique in the style using buttons and a classic half-belt with side adjustments and vented back. Also shorter Trucker length. Many deerskin jackets were made with fairly simple patterns using hides brought in by local hunters. The Meyers show they would duplicate the styles of the day in more complicated patterns.

What a beauty! The hide is very soft and more thick, minimal wear.

Just opened.

I've just ordered the second time (after cancellation of my order in January) following Thedi jacket but I'm not sure yet regarding following specification details, yet:

- Original chest pocket, no chest pocket or diagonal chest pocket (like used for half belt designs)
- Button type (he can also horn buttons instead of these 70's Military buttons)
- Or zip version of this jacket (zipper would end slightly above the last button)
- Leather type: Either 1.3-1.5mm thick UK Domestic full veg-tanned sheep leather as pictured below (black Cafe Racer jacket) without the hair panels (all black sheep leather) or 1.2-1.3mm thick waxed brown New Zealand sheepskin (with less antique/vintage/distressed look) with rough out brown NZ sheepskin two-tone combination (He will finish below jacket in January - and will then send me more pictures)

Which combination do you think could look best for this MTC-127969 jacket style? Or do you have any better ideas? I currently tend to the 1.3-1.5mm thick UK Domestic full veg-tanned sheep leather without chest pocket (perhaps zipper pocket instead) and with horn buttons instead of the 70's military buttons.

Thanks guys!
Cheers,
Robbie

Hey guys,
As one of my personal resolutions for the New Year is NOT to buy another leather jacket, I came to the conclusion that the so far last one should be special one which stands out from my other leather jackets. Therefore I've renewed my original thoughts about a ponyhair grizzly jacket. I would replace below camo cowhair with dark brown ponyhair, remove the chest pocket and replace it by two diagonal symmetrical chest pockets with ball on chain zippers. Moreover I would either choose horn buttons or leather buttons as I'm not sure how the 70s Military buttons would look like in reality. I would also choose the Bruciato horsehide as I like the color but I'm not sure how the leather is compared to others such as Shinki HH, etc. (below is this dark brown pony hair + Bruciato HH combination). I'm also considering the distressed thick/heavy black sheepskin + black pony hair on hide. Or do you have a better idea? What do you think? I'm open for ideas, both on jacket design modifications and leather types/colors in combination with pony hair on hide...and yes, I know I ordered pony hair on hide (exactly this jacket) in January this year and finally cancelled the order. Do you guys think I can pull pony hair on hide off or do you think it would be "too much"? Honest feedback please :) Many thanks in advance and I hope all of you are enjoying the holidays!

Oh that’s funny, I kind of like exposed zipper tape and I even think it’s cool sometimes when it’s the wrong color for the jacket. This is not a feature I seek out, and I do like the clean look of a welted zipper, but exposed zippers are not a problem for me.
