What is clear Beaver?..... Is that like shaved ? I wanna know...

No one has commented on Nutria and how it compares . I'd be interested to know if clear beaver is actually much better than say a 6X beaver open road . Actually , what does clear beaver mean ?

For the forward looking multi-taskers out there...Use $100 dollar bills folded length wise, thickness dependent on snug to fit preference.
That way you always have at least cab fare, maybe up to bail bond money depending on sizing.

only works with US currency.....here in Canada we have switched to plastic money and that shit just don't fold. US currency is great stuff. I have used it to boot a tear in a mountain bike tire and it stopped the inner tube from extruding out the hole.....at least for the 5 miles it took to get back to civilization.

It`s in excellent condition, all the right mark are present and it wears wonderful. I bought it in Malmedy Belgium. I don`t know anything about it. Does anyone know out which time it is, or the model name?

Photos would be helpful. Based on what you’re describing it sounds line a newer hat. There are some genuine Borsalino experts here, but I’m not one of them.

It sounds like a great hat. Post some pics as Brent mentioned above and someone will have a good idea.

Most of the interest here is in pre-60s hats. Quite a few folks track Borsalino and other European brands throughout the more modern era because they maintained a higher quality level for a while after US brands started dropping off.*

*this is a subject of debate

Here’s one of my Borsalinos with a similar label:

Aside from the size (7 1/2 Punti) it doesn’t tell us much. The internal codes for color etc. have changed over time and there isn’t a decoder ring as far as I know. My hat is from the modern era and is very low quality indeed compared to vintage Borsalinos.

Yeah, but for that you have to be able to afford the $100 bills in the first place. At the moment $1 bills are the best I can do, and the most that might get me would be lunch at Jack in the Box.

Well, the hat I'd be using them on is an inexpensive wool felt Porkpie, so I'm sure they would only steal it for the Benjamins behind the sweat...or they're a "Heisenberg" wannabe.

I don’t think the exact model can be identified with what you provided. Are there any markings on the leather sweatband?

Yours is a fairly recent hat. Borsalino continued to make excellent hats longer than most hat companies, but recently, even before their bankruptcy, the quality became noticeably lower. Your hat belongs to this group. This isn’t to say that it’s a bad hat, but it just doesn’t compare favorably to vintage Borsalinos. I have a couple Borsalinos from this era and while they don’t compare to earlier hats they still have decent felt. My biggest complaints about these more recent hats are their blocking (short tapered crowns, narrower brims, etc.) and their build quality (glued in rough cut liners, cheaper narrower sweatbands, etc.). If you like the style/shape then you have a nice newer hat that does compare favorably to many other current production hats.

I agree with this assessment. Had a very similar hat to this one that I purchased used. Really liked the felt, decent build quality Would not have paid full retail for it but buying it used at a decent price made sense.
