Yes, I was so surprised once I entered the world of Instagram and discovered the HUGE number of hatters making Nick Fouquet styled hats....they are legion. Waaaay more of that type than the classic fedora. Heck, I have even made one but my excuse is the customer wanted it that way.

Natural is a great versatile (neutral) colour in the Winchester beaver felt. Tonak has one but it is much much lighter. Akubra does not offer a felt in what they call Natural. The closest, looking at the their felt swatch chart, would be Sand but it is far from an exact match. Most manufacturers even if they name the felt "Natural" is still a dyed felt and thus as with any of the colour names is purely subjective and varies greatly one manufacturer to the next.Doesn’t seem like a popular felt color. I have more custom hats in natural than any other color. It’s a very popular color for current custom hats. Akubra’s color offerings have changed a lot over the years. Some of the fawn colors look close to Winchester’s natural to me.

You mentioned Varathane Diamond Coat in a previous post.
Have you ever had any reaction/issues with the finish or to the hat body after a Coleman Fuel bath?
Particularly white or light colored hats.

No, When I do the naptha bath I let it dry dry thoroughly before I block it. So by the time I block it the hat is dry and the Naptha has all gassed off. I then steam it then block. Light coloured vintage hats are so much harder to clean than dark ones.

I can look when I get home. I have a Natural fedora from Art Fawcett and a hand full of Tan Akubras. Do you know what Akubra model/models you are looking at?What would be a comparable Akubra color to Stetson’s natural?

Bottom left to right Akubra Snowy River in Sandtone Fawn, Art Fawcett Natural Felt, Akubra Snowy River in sand.
Top row left to right Akubra Coolabah in Bran, Akubra Cattleman in Fawn.
Looking at the Federation the best bet would be tawny fawn and in the stylemaster Acorn Fawn. I would personally go for the Federation myself. Mine is 16 years old and still going strong.

Newest acquisition is a short-brimmed Champ. Judging only by the crown it could be "old new stock." Sides of crown are soft, but no dents or pinches. When I try and mold a dent it basically pops back out. Other than hours of massaging them into place, is there a method for 'fixing' the dent/pinch?

For those of you who are still using a spray bottle to shape your hats, take the advice of the many loungers who have advocated steam as the way to shape. I finally broke down and got myself a tea kettle, and the results are amazing. It is so much easier to obtain the results you are wanting...
