It caught my eye for sure, curious about the non-leather sweat on it, is it a "lightweight" or summer thing? I haven't seen many, if any, vintage hats without a leather sweatband.
They are out there.....I have a few vintage felts like that (these tend to be the unlined "packable" summer weight felts) and I even have one with a cloth sweat covered on one side in very thin leather (a Churchill) :-O..........As early as the 40's (if not earlier) they started using cloth and composition sweats on Straw hats. So yes, they are out there.....

Gee, that's a toughie. I don't have any Daltons with non-leather sweats, and I want to say it's a late 50s/early 60s hat, but I really don't know. It has all the right markings for an earlier hat, but that sweat throws me off.

I have one lightweight style Dalton - unlined - but it still has a nice leather sweatband. It's a pretty early example, though, probably early 40s.

The above square hat bash search got me to start re-watching The Rockford Files in its entirety. First time since the seventies.

Anyway, I just spotted this in Season 2. Apparently like father like son:

I decided to check out Maverick… guess what we have in season 1, episode 1.

I guess it’s technically more of a Diamond than a square. Also note the interesting rear dents:

Where can I find feathers like these that came with my Stetson Bowlers? I like them better than the garden-variety feathers I can order off Amazon or somewhere like that. I can’t find anything similar out there.

Have you checked ETSY.com? I buy from a seller off Ebay out of Florida and they sell items similar to this.

When I visited the Garland outlet store (a few years ago), they had a whole pile of those on their steaming table. Can't hurt to give them a ring and see if they'd oblige sending some your way.

Is it just my browser or does the forum keep going offline? I couldn't access it a week or so ago for a couple of days and then last night it was down.
It wouldn't work for me in Chrome last night but would work in another browser. Back to normal this morning though.
