No hat today, just a cap I’ve had for almost 30 years.

Yup, Autumn has crashed in on us almost uninvited. Temperatures dropped 30° as the remnants of Hurricane Michael passed nearby. It looks like it took with it any lingering summer weather, too.

Just the thing! I've been wanting to try out my new Stetson Fredericks. Here's the gray:

Good to see you posting again, Fred. It’s a good looking hat for sure and should help ward off the cold. Feel free to send some cooler weather out to California.

Incredible hat, modest only in the eyes of maybe Joao. I have often wondered the origins of Stetson's use of "the Fray"? Webster defines as " a usually disorderly or protracted fight, struggle, or dispute Fighting there could easily draw neighboring nations into the fray." Could it be an "old West" reference? It keeps me up a night wondering..
I agree that is an incredible hat, but I have no interest on it.
It's the same as, for example, the 7xCB. Big brim = Love it, stingy brim = nice hat but for me no thanks.

Looks gray but this is a slate blue Marathon. How do you guys get yours to photograph blue?

Great looking hat Bill. I think my hat colors turn out truer when I'm standing on the edge of my covered porch with my back to the porch and I'm facing out towards my yard. I haven't mastered the art of hat photos but I keep trying. The blue W&W I just posted shows fairly true on my phone and computer screens.

Oh yeah, lovin' that brim curl. Sweet hat Brent. What size brim / crown? I need to keep a lookout for one of those

Thanks, Ken. The open crown is 5 3/4 and the brim is 2 3/4. If you flattened the brim you’d get about 3 1/4. The current hat is listed as a 5 1/2 crown, but beware that the current 4X version is buffalo wool felt and not fur felt. Another example of Stetson “Xs” not meaning much as my 3X is fur felt and the current 4X is wool.

It’s part of Stetson’s Old West Collection and is definitely more of a western hat, but I like it better as an oversized homburg. I’m sure Stefan @steur will shake his head at the crazy Americans always wanting things to be bigger. In fact, the current Stetson Sheridan would be on my Christmas list if it was fur felt and had a taller crown:

My new Stetson Twenty Five OR today. It turned out beautifully. Bought a new ribbon for it last night, but I will have to pick it up in Texas in a couple weeks. The Texas-Mexico City Hat Trafficking Ring has expanded to ribbons.
BTW, I never imagined myself shopping for ribbons before, or washing, scrubbing, brushing, steaming and ironing anything.
My wife can't believe it.

You should share the fun and let your wife brush and care for your hats. Women love that stuff :)

My wife sews on sweatbands for me because she got tired of me taking hours to do it and still making a mess of it.

I dare not suggest it. She might choke laughing.
