Anyone ever made their own mouton type collar?

Many wartime A-2's were "field modified" with homemade lambs wool collars, especially in the China-Burma-India theater of operations. I like the wool collar look sometimes, but can't commit to it 24/7. I was wondering if anyone has tried making their own removable or permanent "field modified" collar? Many of the jacket makers will install this option for you but I'm interested in seeing some real "field modified" types. Has anyone done this?

Here's an CBI type A-2 from Aero:
