Thanks guys. Interesting read and the subject does seem stir up some emotion here and there. Best to wear human skin I suppose:)
Lucky I am covered where fur felt hats are concerned well into the next century. Max is covered well into the next millenium;)

Have you seen any news reports of the, so called, Eco Warriors, whose 'extinction rebellion' has brought London to a standstill? The term eco-warrior is a self-description for an environmental activist that adopts a 'hands-on' effort to save the planet.
Another use of the term refers to an environmental activist who engages in illegal activities, also known as eco-terrorism. However, an eco-warrior is also someone who utilises the courts to halt, suspend, or otherwise derail a human activity that the activist believes adversely impacts the environment. We had much the same back in the 1960's, only then they were 'Ban The Bomb,' marchers.

There many examples of wild animals being farmed, but farmed in the wild, such as Scottish salmon. Where I live, The New Forest ponies roam free, but to prevent too many, they are culled, their hides are sent off to the tannery and their flesh winds up as pet food. Is it not possible to farm beavers, and other animals, in a similar way?

  6. Most of our Activists do not like farmed animal either. Even for food they are STRONGLY encouraging a true vegan diet (with out ANY animal products. IE Cheese, Milk). Unfortunately as crazy as it all sounds, MANY Politicians are signing on to this sort of thing....:(:(:(:(

True vegan? We've got them, with bells on. Recently one of our big supermarket stores were forced to put a customer warning message on their bananas. It read:
"Not suitable for those who choose a vegan diet."
Their corporate peccadillo was to admit that their bananas and citrous fruit have a bees wax polish to enhance the cosmetic appeal. And if that wasn't cracked pot enough, some vegans are now demanding that a vegan diet should be eaten raw.
Your motto: "Location:Broken Illinois, where we even tax you on the tax!" really resonates on this side of the pond.
In the UK fuel tax is charged on all types of fuel. This includes gas for the home as well as the gas we call petrol. Our road fuel is now sold in litres, it makes the price look cheaper. For a £1:30 litre of fuel we pay: 46 pence for the fuel. 58 pence for the fuel tax & 26 pence value added tax.
I do hope that your taxman doesn't read this and get ideas. Otherwise it's going to be me that has questions to answer.

Ha! My collection starts at "Akubra" and ends at "Alley Kat Hat Co.". All seven of 'em. Oh, wait, I also have that one Winston fedora... Eight hats? Well, hell, that just skews the whole collection into madness. :(

The video of Art is one of the most instructive. There's another one I found equally helpful, but didn't save it. Later this week I'll try to find it. I'm too busy right now.
It's a widow hatmaker in a small shop in a high plains mountain town. It seems like the town is called Paradise, or something like that. If you put that and hat, hats, hatter, etc. in your search parameters you can probably find it.
