I’d love to try but no way i could get it done.

Looks so but no, definitely not. The jacket will still happily stand on its own. It's a dreadnought. I'd also really like to see how in the world can a LW get buttery soft but if I know anything about leather, my jacket's made from the kind of hide that won't ever be considered soft. Mean hide it is.

I forget when I started wearing this thing religiously, but I guess it was around the beginning of October. I put about 70-90 days in a row on it. Since then I've worn it a ton more. Getting more and more awesome.

Stitching looks a bit too wide and sideways for GW, but it is a label he uses.
Does BK also use the Californian label?

Believe it or not some of them do! My LW CHP was quite supple when I received it, if not I probably would not have been able to wear it regularly. At this point it has areas that are almost buttery soft and it is quite comfortable to wear despite the fact it weighs 8 pounds.
And I know what you mean about different hides Bowen. I too have a horse hide CAL from the 1960s that I don’t think is ever destined to soften or break in. Mean hide is a good name for it.

I see the question was already answered, but yes this a Bill Kelso Californian/Surrogate. It arrived late last September. Fairly lightweight horsehide, very comfortable,
