Well here I am again with another stupid question.
I have committed to having a crossover hat from Northwest.
My first custom
3 inch brim 5 inch crown
Dress weight beaver. Fedora crease Granite Grey like this:
Now I am being asked whether to have it stiff like a western or soft like a dress hat.
Can it be made in between
Which would you choose with this wider brim?
How is this done, more glue in the felt?
Are the glues water soluble?

3 in brim, I'd go soft like a dress hat. I have a few at 2 7/8 that work fine.
Anything wider, then I'd go western stiff.
Stiffening is done bad adding shellac, not glue. Shellac is not water soluble but does loose some with wet use. Reactivated by steaming.

Keep your hands clean. Stay away from bubbling kettles of tomato sauce, and out from under birds, etc. Just some of my practices.
Oh, and in restaurants, NEVER place it on a chair near or under the table.

By wearing non-light colored hats....seriously, you have to not fret over it....stuff happens...
Majority of my hats are light colored. The expensive ones I wear on special occasions & still get dings.
Most brush off or clean off with spot remover. The rest add character, at least in my mind....

My recent Borsalino is a vintage Borsalino Bowler probably sold in the 1930's in Vancouver BC.
The proprieter is Linforth's in Granville St. The started in 1923.
It has a silk liner and a wind button string. Excellent conditionIt has a paper label inside but as per the usual conundrum, the serial number and text is rather mysterious.
If someont can help me out I will post some pics.

there's a good chance someone will be able to help. Your best bet is to use photobucket or similar and copy the link that includes img tags.

Is it a set - a felt hood and a grosgrain ribbon? If so, it should be possible to block the hood as a fedora. If the grosgrain is a yard or longer, it's long enough for a fedora.
