Always on the new wave of education! The students are not happy about this, but I'm sure they will be when we don't have extra days to make up in June.

I've still got 2 redskins: a B3 and B6! The B6 has been pulling its weight lately and the B3 did great the other week when we had sub-zero wind chills. Both worked great with only a t-shirt under them.

I need a sheepskin next year. I don’t have anything that mitigate this kind of cold.

I couldn’t be more Buffalo right now. I’m watching the Sabres game, drinking a Polish beer. We’ve already got about 2-3 feet of snow out there. Supposed to get into about -24 tonight while there’s currently a blizzard supposed to drop at least another foot. I work for the Erie County Government and we never get off. Tomorrow we are officially closed. Though my ID badge gives me 24 hour access and emergency travel authorization I am staying home and pulling for closing on Thursday as well. Polar Vortex sounds like a great speed metal album by the way.

At least it's sunny! Not the coldest I've been in. Downhill skiing in -60 wind chill once. But this is pretty nasty.

Damn near 100 degree temperature swing by Saturday. Try explaining that to your sinuses! LOL.

-30C here again today plus the wind chill so -43 C. Vey cold here again just like you poor buggers down in the mid west of the USA. You're feeling what we get only get periodically throughout the winter.

    Going up to a balmy - 7 C tomorrow.

Monday is back to -25 C

This is a good example of why it's best to wait to clean your driveway until after the city plow has gone by, otherwise you'll be doing it twice.

Unless your drive is off an ally, then you and your neighbor can just play volleyball with it.

Always do! Sometimes in very heavy heavy snow fall we get around these parts and it has to be plowed more than once. Otherwise I’ll wait until the plow has gone by. Now the majority of snow has stopped and 30-40mph winds have picked up. When you already have 4ft of snow, this wind is making visibility about 10 feet.

The cold is forming frost on our door! For the record, this has never happened in the 30 years my family has lived in this house.

I also just took this short video of my Dad throwing a pot of hot water into the air and it vaporizing instantly:

-25F (-31.6C) at car startup this morning around 7:30, interesting part of this "storm" was the winds. Not plugged in, no assit on the battery. No block heaters on most cars and normally not needed. Last night, 30-35 mph winds most of the night. Down to just 15 mph today. Since C and F come together at -40F, and we're "not used to" that level of cold -7F = 19.4F which would feel pretty darn good. However we're supposed to be around 40F Saturday. So short lived. Just happy the wind has died down. Predicting -30F (-34C) tonight for my area.

A friend of mine just got home from a doctor's appointment this morning. He told me that the temperatures out there are arctic. I told him that, technically, it's sub-arctic. Greenland is warmer than Chicago right now.
