Thank you, Jared. Can you tell me anything else about the Cav?

unfortunately no. I did look up that store, which is here in SF. An online/catalogue iteration of the business still exists, although the last brick and mortar store connected with the original business closed in 2000. As they were founded in 1853, that unfortunately doesn't help date the hat either. Hopefully someone with Cavanagh knowledge can chime in.

You already know I’m not an authority on this, but it sure looks like a 1930’s hat to me. A couple minutes on the Hatted Professor seems to confirm this, but I’m sure someone more knowledgeable will post tomorrow: this hat is sure to elicit a response!

Well, more clues from Mr. Bowers, even in absentia

I'm seeing "Park avenue at 47th st" on the the tip liner. This was adopted ca. 1936 when they expanded from 247 Park ave.

those definitely look like 30's labels according to the above. Nice score!
Thank you, Jared. And thank you, Brent!

I want to make a little fedora for my dog, he is a medium sized dog (who frankly doesn't much like hats) but I think it would look fedorable.

Has anyone done so before and does anyone have any recommendations about it?

Yes, it's been done. From the files, here’s Miles. He prefers straws, for the breathability, but he also seems to have an aversion to FUR felt, for some reason...

I am sporting a marvelous Mallory, for an attempt at Youthful Smartness!

Please pardon the blurry morning eyes, mates.
