Navy pinstripe you say?

In all seriousness though, do you have a budget in mind? Is it important to you to have a vintage hat, or would you wear a more modern one?

If you're ok with an off the rack hat, the Akubra Federation IV is a solid choice. Famous resilient, pretty classic styling. Probably Moonstone for Navy blue.

You might also check out the Stetson whippet in Caribou.

If hunting for a vintage hat seems fun, a relatively easy get would be the Stetson St. Regis homburg style. It was a mainstay for many decades and because they were usually embossed with the St. Regis name, that's an easy thing for a seller to list. Here's a random eBay auction pic:
Thanks for the suggestions sir,
Whether the hat is vintage or not doesn’t necessarily matter to me aslong as I like the look of the hat and I think it looks good on me. The Akurba is definetly on my radar never pictured a grey hat to go with the suit but you might be on to something.

I've found that a good hat fits with any suit . Difference being, change the hatband to match the suit.

Hello folks,
Just a young fella who got into vintage menswear recently and was looking to obtain my first fedora, preferably looking for something that goes with a navy pin striped suit I’m currently acquiring and would love some suggestions on colour and style of hat to compliment the ensemble?
What size are you? MiamiBruno just listed a whole whack of vintage hats on Ebay this morning. There is a nice midnight blue Homburg listed. He is a very reputable seller of vintage hats.

Will definitely check that out, I don’t have a clue what my hat size is, will have to do that pretty soon.

Akubra Federation I’d a fantastic place to start. Good quality, sturdy hat that can take anything you throw at it. If the idea of bashing your own hat seems to much the Akubra Stylemaster is another great option that comes pre-shaped.
Video on finding your hat size. I always go up a size with Akubra.

I have a friend that had a bad experience with hats by the 100. I always recommend

What can anyone tell me about the Stetson Barnstormer? Is this a quality hat? Doesn’t appear to be in production anymore and there’s a dearth of information on the net.

The best fedora to complement a navy pinstriped suit would be one with a neutral color, such as black, gray, or brown. A wide-brim fedora (with a brim between 3-4.5 inches) is the most classic style, but you could also opt for a trilby, which has a narrower brim and a slightly more modern look. When it comes to colors, black or dark gray is the most timeless and versatile choice, but you could also consider navy, dark brown, or even a light tan. Whichever color you choose, make sure it contrasts nicely with your navy pinstriped suit for a stylish look.

I beg to differ. A 3" - 4.5" brim is huge and a far stretch from the classic fedora look. Classic in my books would be 2 1/2" to perhaps 2 7/8". 4.5" is out there in western hat territory. If you are of smaller stature/smaller head size you could drop down to a 2 1/4" brim and still be in fedora country albeit bordering on the Trilby.
