Watchmen photos are up:

Nite Owl looks far too buff for me. I thought it was great in the comic to have an overweight superhero. Of course, the photo could be from early in his career.
I haven't read the comic since the '80s but remember liking it...
OK, so who's watching Terminator: the Sarah Connor Chronicles?
I think it's fantastic; could be this season's Lost. The TV version of Sarah Connor isn't as intense as Linda Hamilton's, but I really like what's going on so far.
If they can avoid being as simplistic as "Terminator of the...
Not sure if this belongs here or the Observation Lounge, but I think this guy needs a hug:

At the very least, he'll need lots o' sunscreen when he goes hatless during the day.
Here's an interesting bit of TV History -- Rod Serling pitches The Twilight Zone to the sponsors:

Oktoberfest will be here before you know it, and I think it's high time I got the proper head gear. The Village Hat Shop sells the sort of thing I seek, but I'd rather keep it under $100.
Any suggestions? I live in L.A., if that helps...
Thanks...
I didn't see this posted elsewhere. A short article from the current Entertainment Weekly on celebrities sporting pork pies.
Keaton's is still the best.
Not sure if this belongs here or in Hats, but check out John Favreau's hat on the set of Iron Man:

LACMA (L. A. County Museum of Art -- near the Tar Pits) will be showing some noir over the next couple of weeks, highlighting the work of cinematographer Burnett Guffey. I'm going to try and catch at least a couple of these...
OK, how do I clean bird droppings from a Milan straw? I JUST got nailed and soap and water took most of it off, but not all. The "straw" is really a paper/polyester blend. It only cost me $28.00 bucks so I'm not that upset but still... stupid bird.
I appreciate any suggestions... thanks!
It's warm today so I walked to lunch wearing my dark grey straw. On the way back, I encountered an elderly gentleman wearing a baseball cap.
With the Playboy logo on it.
What's wrong with this picture? I've encountered this scenario a few times before; I almost want to confront these...
Sometimes, living in L.A. we find ourselves with an embarrassment of riches: in addition to the Film Noir series this month at the Egyptian (http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?t=18374), LACMA is showing classic Westerns now through May 12th. I caught The Searchers opening night...
So for over a month now, I've been on the quest for a new straw. I have a cheapish porkpie that I've just gotten bored with (both color and style) so I dragged Hargist with me to go hat shopping. We originally headed over to Hollywood Hatters on Melrose, but Sal was just barely getting in...
Any Dragnet fans out there? Sure, the color ones from the '60s are very watchable, what with their "Joe vs. the dirty hippies" attitude, but the black-and-white originals are some fine examples of film noir. And hats.
Love the hats! Most of them seem to have been bashed by hand, and it's...
So this morning, I'm leaving my office on a coffee run while wearing my gray porkpie and one of my co-workers says to me with not an ounce of sarcasm, "Nice hat -- you look sharp." I thanked him and he added, "Man, I wish those would come back. It's a great look."
I told him it was...
Is it possible to reshape a fez? I just got one over the internet and I think it might fit if it weren't so stiff -- because it's a perfect circle and my big, Irish skull isn't, it just keeps springing off the top. The felt is covering some sort of cardboard, I think.
Any suggestions on how...
Some of you fellers may disagree, but it's so windy in L.A. today I almost lost my new porkpie! In fact, when I went to grab it I put some pinches in the crown! Luckily, they popped right out.
I'm not a fan of the wind trolley, but would they be of any use with hurricane-force gusts?
Earlier this year, I bought an open crowned Barbisio and had a c-crown put in by the owner of the shop. Recently, I noticed that the center pinch was no longer center (somehow it drifted by about 2 inches), so I took it back to the shop yesterday for a rebash. The owner wasn't there but one of...
If you live in the LA/Orange County area, KDOC-56 is now running the original series at 8:00 pm. It was shot in the late '50s, takes place in the '30s, so if you like hats, check it out!
Marvelous b&w photography, and Robert Stack is still the best Eliot Ness. I'm a big fan of the movie...
Ironically, it wasn't a croc that did him in but a stingray. This seems very surreal to me:
